This is so sad. What he gave to the thief community is a treasure and will remain forever.
My condolences to his family and friends :(

Hello all,
This is bbb's son, Matt; long-time Thief enthusiast, but an even bigger SS2 fanatic.
I wanted to thank you all for the condolences and wishes about my father. He held people in this community in the highest regard, and Thief was a major part of our gaming-oriented discussions. Alongside many of you, I played my father's missions (typically before release), and you can certainly see that he absorbed many of the qualities that Looking Glass Studios envisioned for the series and continued them through is missions. He always was a fan of hiding loot in the "nooks and crannies" and secrets that furthered the plot, beyond just the standard mission goals.
As many of you have stated, I will be spending the next few weeks replaying my father's missions and remembering the blood, sweat, and tears he poured into them for the enjoyment of, literally, thousands of people to download and enjoy.
Thank you all, again; your well-wishes and thoughts are a reminder of my father's touch on this community, and my family and I are grateful to see the response.

Matt, appreciate your kind response. This is an amazing community built around our common affinity for a fantastic video game universe and I appreciate it more all the time. I didn't realize your dad was a CFO until I read his obit. So cool how many walks of life cross paths in this forum because of a shared interest. At this time of Thanksgiving in the USA, I give thanks for all of you!

Oh no, this is very sad! I had the privilege of going out to lunch with him when I first moved to Massachusetts back in around 2003/2004. We unfortunately didn't keep in touch, but he was a super nice cool guy. I remember him telling me about the stuff his two boys had been working on in Dromed, silly funny levels that never got published, just kids trying to be like their dad.
I'm very sorry to hear of his passing, and I guess one bit of good that comes from it is a reminder to me to try harder to keep in touch with old friends while I can.

Komag, it has been a very long time since we last saw each other. The last time, if I recall correctly, was at your house for a party of sorts of local FM authors/enthusiasts, which was likely around 2003/2004, like you said. I actually had recently brought up to my father about how you got me to try raw salmon for the first time, and I remember hating it (ironic, given I am now an avid sushi eater). While this is certainly an upsetting way to reconnect, I hope you and your family are doing well, and all are happy and healthy.

I have not yet gone through his computers to see. To the best of my knowledge, he may have had a mission in the works, but after retiring before the pandemic, my father re-embraced his love for music and musical studies, so I'm not sure if much time was devoted to mission building. If anything should arise that I feel comfortable publishing on his behalf, I will do so, accordingly.
