Sandwiches: the open vs. closed debate - by Yakoob

I love a good sandwich but you're right (and thus wrong!) in saying that there is altogether too much bread. Therefore you are wrong in asking open or closed; the question should be "thin or thick?"
Some of the pics you've posted have a suitable bread to filling ratio but when the bread gets too thick it's time to lose the top and make it open.

An open sandwich isn't a sandwich. Why is this so hard to - wait nevermind look who i'm talking to

All a fuss over nothing. So tartines are better balanced than sandwiches. Yeah, they are, and if I'm going to a pub I'll order Bruschetta over a sub any day.
Sandwiches, however, are designed to be a full meal you can eat with one hand while fucking and that, my friend, is why they win. I ain't gonna use both my hands to try to keep condiments and ham perfectly balanced on a single slice of bread while one of them could be massaging a tit.

An open sandwich is like a house without a roof. Who lives in one of those?

Wait, you guys actually consider the act of removing a single slice of bread from a mound of ingredients as making it a completely new, separate, incomparable "apples-and-oranges" status food?
mind = blown

It's ham and cheese on a flat usually rigid square, how you need more than 3 fingers to eat that is beyond me.

Briareos often uses more fingers than that :cool:

I'm with Yakoob on this one, I like to see what I am eating, plus the pictures looked yum. However there is room for all kinds of sandwiches (definitions aside) in this world.

An open-faced sandwich has all the structural integrity of a two-legged table. A proper sandwich you can just grab one-handed and chow down. Open-faced sandwiches must be carefully kept perfectly level as you daintily nibble away at the edges like a rabbit.
Closed sandwiches win.
