Ok now, vegimite (or its superior grand-daddy marmite) isn't really for sandwiches is it? I can get behind butter and marmite on toast for sure.

I could see marmite on something odd-ish like a roasted potato sandwich or something. Sliced thin, with marmite and say pea shoots? You can sell that.
I am apparently one of like two or so people gbm knows who likes marmite but was not born in the UK. I don't really see what's not to like. Salty deliciousness helloooo.

Protip: "Sometimes I eat
[condiment] straight from the jar!" is something that nobody should ever admit in public. Mayonnaise, cheez whiz, ranch dressing, vegemite, cake frosting, whatever... just keep your shame private.
Hey now. Unlike the other things you mentioned, cake frosting stands pretty well on its own. Not that I'd recommend eating alot of it, cuz it's too rich. But you can still eat a couple of spoonfuls in front of someone without being labeled a sicko freak like those people who suck mayo straight out of restaurant packets.

If marmite is like vegemite, then he can say he knows one more. I thought the stuff was pretty good on buttered toast.

essentially vegemite is very much like someone made a spreadable paste out of soy sauce.

Protip: I'm just going to stick my protip in so try not to wiggle. I wasn't talking about that weinie white sauce stuff. I was talking about actual ground up horseradish which is good to tang any sauce you want to make or just fried with sausage. Also I will eat a jar of peppercino peppers or olives or pickled okra. Screw pretzels or chips, when I've been drinking I can't taste that shit so kiss my shameful privates.
PigLick on 1/8/2011 at 03:10
what the hell are you drinking, raw spirits?
Shug on 1/8/2011 at 09:03
lightly cooked spirits with a side of horseradish

Vegimite is to marmite as dijon is to English mustard. They're kind of the same "class" of food but qualitatively they're very, very different. I don't like vegimite at all - it's like some weird low-rent and somehow synthetic/artificial marmite (to me, I know lots of Antipodeans like it).
Marmite on toast with butter, however, is fabulous. You need hot toast with lots of butter (so it melts) and just the right amount of marmite. Too little is not really a problem but too much is project badtimes.

Men at Work knew their stuff, obviously.
