Sandwiches: the open vs. closed debate - by Yakoob

With a closed sandwich you inevitably have remoulade, tomatoe juice or some runny mixture of it pour out of a side or the end. And just before the final bites the whole thing just falls apart leaving an uninviting mush on your hand and trousers and shoes if you're unlucky. Good luck fucking with that.
I'm not convinced such a concoction could ever be more stable than a loaf of bread with some cheese on it, as shown in Yakoob's pic.

It's a fact
Like, in science or logic and such? If you say so. 3 year olds in my area would disagree thou.
Here`s a fact: as pointed above, in a sandwich you eat twice as much bread as necessary. Given that bread is not really bread anymore, it is not a very good thing. Put a goddamn lettuce on top or some cheese/ham slice, if you have trouble holding the rest together.
@Yakoob: unfortunately the legendary quality of Polish produce is becoming, well, a legend. Spent some time there recently and saw it`s all getting taken over by usual suspects... you actually have to look for proper stuff. Even the beer from major sellers is being brewed on basis of some sort of Chinese Voodoo concoction instead of barley.

Wait a second. That picture has fillings on top of closed sandwiches. Yes, they may be technically open but I'm happy to settle for the two slice sandwich without piling extra fillings in a dangerous position.
Actually, after reflecting on the picture again it would appear that those could be two layers of open sandwiches due to the alignment of the bread involved. Such deception clearly shows the dangers of the open sandwich and the way that it can cause ambiguity to the dining experience.

You know, I never quite understood it when someone makes a post,
acknowledges a counter-argument in advance so we can avoid going into itpoints out and then utterly disregards the very fact that renders his post moot, and yet you still end up with like ten people
repeating the same counter argument as if they were the cleverest little twits ever pointing out the fail-from-the-get-go BECAUSE IT'S CORRECT REGARDLESS OF WHAT THE ORIGINAL POSTER SAYS.
There ya go. It simply needs to be said
"Pizza is bread and cheese, and so is grilled cheese, but I like grilled cheese more, so grilled cheese is the best kind of pizza there is."

If there was another word for open sandwich (which there needs to be really) and the thread was about comparing them and sandwiches that'd be okay though, right? Cause that is actually what is going on in here and I don't think arguing about the definition of sandwich, or any related issue, is useful at all.

He's setting it up as a debate that doesn't exist - like the pizza/grilled cheese thing.
And goddammit, this is important, we're talking about sandwiches - some things should be sacred.

Given that two slices of bread are required for the superior structural integrity of a sandwich, you're eating 100% as much bread as is necessary. Apparently you're having as much trouble grasping this concept as you are grasping how to type an apostrophe.

I love them both dearly but functionally, genealogically and etymologically, they are different creatures. Closed is the first born - discrete, humble and helpful, while open is the strident, shameless attention whore, the foundling, the bastard child, the oxymoron.
Sandwich has graduated from proper noun to regular noun to adjective and made the prodigious leap to verb, in a mere three centuries! And what other single word can really stand in for it? Laminate?
Would you eat a Dual Laminate Blunt Force Weapon, even if you could choose between white, brown or multigrain? If you facetiously said yes, might I sell you sheets of pine veneer coated with glue on one side? I call it open-faced plywood and it's way better than the usual stuff. Trust me...

I must object sir, I believe it to be two rounds of open sandwich, one atop the other in order to fit on a single plate

Turn the top sandwiches upside down? Run with me on this.
