I am currently borrowing my friend's copy of DX. I just heard that I got DX for my birthday from soemone. I'm not sure what version I am currently using; I know it's not GOTY. If I install the new one, will my save work on it? I really don't know what version I am getting but I thought they probably worked with all editions anyway.

Thanks. I thought they would be compatible (hell, I can't see why not) but me not being technologically inclined hasn't helped.

To check which version you are currently using, just look at the bottom of the menu screen when you start DX.

Okay, I am currently using version 1.002f and would like to run my saves from that version with version 1003_0EM5. Any help?

I have some very bad news for you. v1.003oems is the $10 Activision release "special limited edition". It is "special" in that it is limited to the first UNATCO Island and UNATCO HQ levels only. In other words it is just a demo preview. It is a scam and a rip off. I suggest you ask your friend for the recipt, go back to the store, and demand that you can exhange it for the GOTY version instead. They will be happy to do it because the GOTY costs more, so you make up the price difference. In all cases, I have known most people to be successful in exchanging it.
For your future reference, saved games should be cross version compatible. Therefore just copy the \DeusEx\Saved\ directory across, as well as all INI files in the \DeusEx\System\ directory.
