I'm not sure what scares me the most, its a number of things and I'm easy to scare as well :o
Things that have got me are:
Dead things in water
Giant spiders
Zombies waking suddenly
FMs that have frightened me so have been:
Mystry Man
Lampfire Hills
I haven't played any of the T2 FM yet as I don't have T2 but I will and I have the scariest already downloaded and very to frighten the life out of me. Can't wait!

In the Pagan underground in TDS, that giant ent guarding the paw. I was fine til I decided to try for the thing.
So a killed someone and put them on the plate hoping to get the paw before the ent came around...well I had to run to a shadow at the entrance while it check out the body...then he checked out 3 inches away from me, he was there for probably 30 seconds, then ran off into the hall, then repeated this as I tried to leave.
And that was the most scaerd I got in Thief DS

Cradle didn't scare. Only thing that made me jump,
was going up to the attic, the knock at the door, more of a startle than anything
Still entertaining mind you, but it didn't make me shit my pants like it did for other people. Guess you could say I embrace the undead, like they embrace me.
It is very hard to come up with anything new these days, so many games out there now. Been there, done that.
its true! the craddle is not as scary as everyone said it was. except the part BrokenArts said. :-D
and the 1st time the patients started runnings towards me that was freaky, but it wore off quickly. not like the haunts in the cathedral!!

Ho' All!
I'm new to these boards, played Thief and TMA, never played TDS. I recently got TDP again on Ebay and I've been loving reliving it... gotta get to those fan missions!
As for scary moments... I think I've got two... I agree with Nicked... my first freak out moment was in the Haunted Cathedral.. I was working my way through the Old Quarter and was hidden in a shadowed dead end. I heard the backwards chanting/yelling of an apparition that sounded like it was just on the other side of the wall I was crouched against. I think I actually cried for a moment and started to wonder why I didn't just stick with picking pockets...
The creepiest sound, I think, is the little clown like giggles that occur now and again in the Sword mission.
Anyway, I'm glad to have rediscovered this awesome game and equally glad there's a place to meet likeminded cutpurses!

It's been soo long since I played it, I do not recall the name or the exact story line of the FM...and it was not haunts, ghosts, tree beasts etc ...that terrified me,
but those "other keepers" that were mere shawdows - you could at most barely see, or hear. I never knew when one was near me ready to strike, I was panicked all the time,:o way overly tense, it was mentally and physically exhausting for me.
Maybe someone could give the name, I'll probably play it again.

The first encounter with zombies - The Mines. It totally freaked me out, of course I knew there was going to be some creepiness with all those corpses lying about but I would have never guessed they get up THAT quick. I nearly jumped off my chair when the zombie suddenly jumped up and started howling. I bet I got something of a trauma there. To me the mines are still the most terrifying zombie-part of the game. Very little to kill the undead with, hard time running past them in those narrow corridors.
Of course I've never learned to keep my sounds silent enough not to jump in the air every time someone I'm sneaking up suddenly turns.

I gotta say the hammer haunts in the 1st Thief, after Return to the cathedral; I absolutely loathed running into those bastards. I don't remember what happened with that level when I first played it (on expert mode, too), but I do remember it took me over 3 hours to complete, and I had nothing but my blackjack, sword, and a few water arrows; and still a crap load of undead shambling around.
But those haunts . . . I remember by the beginning of Thief II, anytime I heard that tell-tale rattling chain . . . (like in the prisons in the T2 mission Framed), I usually would completely attempt to avoide those areas; unless there was something there I needed.
