searching for something... - by Xenith

Well it might be a long shot, but I might as well ask away. I'm searching for a NES game I used to play though I don't know it's name (never knew even at the time I was playing, 6, 7, 8 years ago). All I remember is that it was something about a war (might be Vietnam, not sure) and I was a soldier sent to do my usual fighting. I think the first level was somewhere in a forest. I got upgrades for my gun (kind of like Contra style, I think, with things flying and me shooting at them for the upgrade) to shoot more projectiles and even shoot rockets at some point. I remember fighting a tank too and breaking stuff. The main character sprite I can describe pretty accurately. When I walked the gun was pointing upwards as though it was strapped on my back, only aiming with it when I took a shot.
Uhm... any thougths?

Was it overhead or side view?

side view. it felt kind of like contra but less dynamic.

No, definetly not, I played Metal Gear before.
Also I don't think it's one of those hacked games where they replace sprites because it just had that rather original feel to it, from music to atmosphere.

Definetly not Rush n Attack. You had a gun from the start of the game and no other weapons. First level was in a forest with a couple of watch towers in the background and soldiers wanting to kill me. Eventually when you upgraded your weapon it was something like the S upgrade from Contra (that bullet spread).

Nope, I'm afraid it's not P.O.W. :( There wasn't any way of movng up on like a surface in the one I mentioned (no 3D-ish feel to it).
I can't really say I'm remembering anything else although I have such a clear image of a couple of scenes.:erg:
