Hmm that's pretty much me right there, I just got to sender's station and gave up on the game. Should I keep going then? Does it actually stop being godawful (and yes the previous, aside from writing, wasnt just bad, but straight up godawful).
The basic gameplay doesn't change much, though after a while you get some new combat options (not that it helps the atrocious system much). New characters get introduced, you get to see new places, more good jokes are thrown around and so on.
You'll probably get more enjoyment from watching the movie (google it if you're curious).

I have still never completed GTA:SA because of those flying missions. I've heard it is much easier with a joypad, but it just jarred with me how a light-on-realism, almost comic book game suddenly took on complex flight sim characteristics without warning. I mean - I've played games with planes and helicopters (Just Cause 2) which are EASY to control and fun to use. I don't get why a GTA game gave me compulsory missions which demanded I be able to pilot a plane and helicopter using the same mechanics as the real thing. The cars don't require gear changes
1st time around I was exactly the same. Though I played the ps2 version since I prefer playing with a gamepad, and after running into the flying missions I ended up hating the game so much (after flying into the ground for the 1000 time) that I vowed to never play the game again until it worked good on ps2 emulators since I would have save states atleast.
And that's exactly what I did many years later. With save states its fine. Though even with them the remote controlled plane mission took me a good 20 tries. It's worth playing through to the end trust me. I won't spoil it, but all I'll say is that an event happens just before the end that occurs on a global scale that I've not seen done in any other GTA game before or since that is worth seeing.
This game is one of the few that I would STRONGLY urge people to go play it on an emulator rather than the traditional way. You'll need a semi good PC though (2 years ago or newer).

Got through the PC version with a gamepad. Granted it was a little fiddly and had the worst gamepad support ever (seriously, GTA3 and VC were better) but other than a few buttons I had to put on the keyboard it was mostly fine. Probably the most problematic flying mission is the one where you had to get a motorcycle up into a plane. Took me about 30 tries.
Vice City Stories is the best GTA though.

I'm going to have to agree with Gunny on Morrowind. I still haven't gotten into it and I've tried 3 times now.

I gave up on Morrowind and Oblivion. Didn't try Skyryim. I can't seem to get into any of the Bethesda RPGs, which is too bad since they seem massively popular here.

Actually I got burned out on GTA many years ago. Got through GTA3 and just didn't care about VC and lost interest in SA after multiple failures doing Catalina's missions.
Played them all again this year and had a blast.

I gave up on Morrowind and Oblivion too. Loved Skyrim. :cheeky: Mainly thanks to the combat being more meaty and satisfying, and the story doing a much better job of pulling me in.
Also I've found that I enjoy Bethesda RPGs much more when I play them on console. Played Skyrim and FO3 on the 360, loved them. Played FO:NV and the other Elder Scrolls on PC, didn't like them as much. Not sure if that has more to do with the games or the system though.
