Did you even read the rest of the post, about making a new game instead of a remake?

Have you ever existed in reality, where people can't always practically do what they want?

That old Athlon XP 3200+/GeForce 6800 Ultra box of mine has to have a decent chance in a co-op session as well as my new Core 2 Quad Q6600/GeForce 8800 GT flagship-maybe even an even older Athlon XP 1800+/Radeon 9600 XT setup if it can handle it.
Serious Sam will run just fine on an Eee PC with Integrated Intel video. ANYTHING will run it.

Nah, needs Shader model 3.0. But the other 2 will most likely be able to.
Are you talking about the original, Serious Sam 2, or this upcoming remake? Because the original (and SE) came out in 2001/2002 and ran perfectly on anything more powerful than a Voodoo 3.

Is this game just the First Encounter? Because I know I saw a screenshot with the pumpkin-head guys from the Second Encounter. Sequel maybe?

I am talking about the HD remake. It requires a Shader Model 3.0 enabled vide card. GeForce 6xxx series and up or Radeon Xxxx series and up (X600, 850 Xt and the like).

Well, for the XP 1800+/9600 XT box, I meant the originals. Even if the HD remake requires SM 3.0, I would expect it to choke on anything short of a GeForce 8800 due to that being the trend for modern games nowadays (UnrealEngine3, CryENGINE 2, and hell, Shattered Horizon REQUIRES DX10)...and, no, Radeon X800 and below don't support SM 3.0. You'd have to wait until X1800/X1900 before ATI would get in on the SM 3.0 action, hence why I overlooked the X800s in favor of the 6800s.
If they really do run perfectly on anything upwards of a Voodoo3, then I could even throw in my HP TC1100 (Pentium M 1.1 GHz/2 GB DDR-333/GeForce 4 Go 420 32 MB) for even more LAN action...soon as I get that damn keyboard port repaired, anyway. (That, or find a USB keyboard.)

(
http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/61419) Second Encounter HD confirmed for early 2010 release.
Also Deathmatch and dedicated servers are being patched into First Encounter HD.
I'll get the first game once it's offered in a weekend deal.

Question: Are there any remaining technical problems with the HD remakes? I seem to recall the multiplayer was a bit broken when TFE came out, but I'm guessing that lots of patching has happened since then.
Bjossi on 4/8/2010 at 23:25
I've never had the HD remakes crash on me even once. Aside from the occasional in-game bug or two (like bad guys trying to run down a wall or distant guys falling off a ledge) the entire games are a smooth ride. SE HD is still receiving patches, dunno about FE HD.
But for some reason, a reason I can not predict by any means, Croteam decided to not include the Second Encounter intro in the remake. So you are taken straight to NETRICSA screen when you've hit new game. I sure hope they'll put it in, even if it'll be the last patch, because this fact is as annoying as a dead pixel on a LCD for a Sam fan like myself.

I have to say that the cutscenes in TFE were awfully dull, so I can't pretend that this would affect my interest in the remakes, but it's certainly a curious omission.
