Edit: Discussed.

I'm pretty sure the servant masks are made by Karras. They are the same design as the angel statues and the Children of Karras.

This angle of the story is just so awkwardly implemented. They spent weeks/months waiting on Gervaisius for masks that can be easily had elsewhere, and when they finally get a mask, they don't even do anything with it! They study the cultivator instead.
All this to realize information that Garrett had already known, as far back as Eavesdropping even.
Yes,
exactly.
Are you listening Thief 2 Gold guys?

Dang, I feel really dumb cause I never thought about that. I was like: well, 2 more mission until endgame, let's see what I have to endure now...
And seriously, at that point I almost completely lost interest in the plot. Going casing at that point in the story? Really, at that point there should have been another way to get infos about Karras plan. That really put my hackles up.

What do you mean by that? Is there a Thief 2 Gold?

There is a team that is working on a Thief 2 Gold right now. I believe it is still fairly early in the production process.

I keep staring at the dates in this thread and wondering if this isnot some Andean thread mummy or I'm seeing things.
Aaanyway, I really don't know how how a Thief 2 Gold of any stripe could fix the Thief 2 plot and still add new content without completely restructuring things. The primary problem with Thief 2, as I see it, is it has too few plot points for the amount of levels they were trying to cram in so they add in a lot of loose ends, red herrings and paper chasing most of which involve (as noted above) main characters being inexplicably stupid.
We went along with Garrett being slightly vain and stupid in The Dark Project because it's the first game and he's only a bit slow on one detail. Sure it's the biggest detail in the game, but I can relate to someone not really expecting a guy to be that guy, even in a world as weird as Thief's.
I mean the guy must have learnt a thing or two from that right?
Good luck to anyone who wants to attempt it, but I think it's a hell of a job. Most achievable thing would be a "fan re-cut": remove a couple of missions; restructure things to provide G with more sensible purpose, etc.

Remember, Thief 2 was originally devised as a simple mission pack. Halfway through development they podged a plot together. That's why the plot is so ... well, shabby.

I'd love to hear about the various iterations they went through. I mean, in the demo G appears to be breaking into Angelwatch fairly early on in the piece to learn how to defeat the robots who safeguard Truart's police state (yeah, police state is a bit of an anachronism in this faintly feudal society, but it's all i got...). Massively different from what we ended up with.

I would imagine the demo plot was thought up afterwards - they took (arguably) the best mission and removed all spoiler elements by giving it a standalone plot.
Digi, yes, we're listening! :cheeky:
This raises some interesting questions, that could possibly be addressed in Fallen Hammers or Waking the Dead.
