Yes, I've found that bug and not just with the servants. If you're picking a lock in the same room as pretty much any enemy they just suddenly wake up without any notice, yet they appear to be sleeping making snoring noises.

In the instance I refer to, I'm most definitely hitting the noble, while he sleeps, and after he stands up. He doesn't look around for me, ever, he just stands there, idling the whole time. There is never a state of alarm. Noise doesn't alert him. I don't know if he could walk out of the bed or not if he became alerted.
(Hmmm... I haven't tried tossing a frogbeast in the room, yet. I'll have to remember that for next time. As long as I quicksave regularly, I can experiment with death...).
To hit the servant instead of the bed, I lean forward, start the descent of the blackjack, and crouch down as the arm swings down. It looks more realistic, is accurate, and you get the right thumping sound.:ebil:
There are lots of reasons why the noble in this instance isn't searching. If he is on the same team as the player, he won't search. Nor will he if he is set to not investigate. If you BJ him while he is asleep, and you definitely hit him, then he has a Coshproof metaproperty which prevents KO.
It's easy to BJ someone on the single bunk bed, but the double doesn't really have space in the middle. It's really one large block. :)
The sleeping sounds while springing up is a bug. I'm sure there is a workaround or a reason for this because I have only seen it in FM's.

Ahhh... THAT'S why you never see anyone on the bottom bunk! Heh. I never used the double bunk in my map, so I didn't notice.

If you play Rocksbourg Découverte there is a guard asleep on the bottom bunk upstairs in the bar. Since I was trying to BJ the entire cast of AI, the only way to BJ him was to shoot a fire arrow close enough to "affect" him. At that point he was partly outside the block and I was able to BJ him. He was deaf and shooting broadheads at the bunk did nothing.
The image of the bunk shows empty space, but the physics of the bed is one solid object block.
Domarius on 1/5/2006 at 22:26
Shouldn't that mean if you shoot arrows between them, it should stick into mid air?
john9818a on 1/5/2006 at 23:28
Unless the bed is set to allow arrows to stick to it, then the arrows will simply disappear. There is no physical space between the lower and upper bunks, it's only a visual space. It's a lot easier to make one object with transparent area than it is to make a bunch of objects to make up the two bunks, the legs, etc. More objects means slower performance.

I have a question about the servant with the tray in Assassins. Why did they make him have an awkward walk while carrying the tray? It's not really that heavy unless the tray was made of lead. In that case I wouldn't eat the bread.

I guess it would make sense if the walk made the servant appear to balance the tray to avoid a mess, but no....

Well it's really weird. The lower legs bend slightly outwards and he doesn't really bend his knees. Maybe he really is that wimpy. :)

Sore and stiff from working Bafford's going away party--or arthritic.:p
