I'm sure many of us here have noticed that when the servants are completely idle and unaware of any intruders presence they repeatedly make a sexual monaing and panting sound. If you listen closely you can hear both a male and female's moaning. It pretty much sounds like sex to me except dumbed down just a bit to a "whisperish" moan.

The "servants" are changed by an operation, wear a metal mask, that may or may not be a factor in the brain control that Karras is exerting on the.
This is explained by many subtle clues in TMA.
It may simply be PAIN.
NF, you have a overactive imagination, obviously too focused on Sex.

Their airway might be restricted due to the Mask they might possibly have other surgical implants in their bodies that is causing them pain or just amplifying their natural breathing sounds. Who knows how far Karras went in turning street people into slaves.

please....no more on how the servants are sexually (or otherwise) inclined, in any way, shape, or form. I'm sure no-one wants another long thread that results in a lock and a lot of pride being hurt....let's just stop now....

I don't see the connection between sex and servants of any kind in Thief.

Without the *.wavs, I recall the voices were shivering from being cold and dead. The quavering in the voices when they say, for instance:
"So cold... so very cold...."
They are suffering from pain, grief, despair, and the cold. That's why they sometimes thank you when you put them out of their misery.
Aside from that, I wonder how they can talk at all with a cultivator and rust-gas container inside. Unless the weapon sits in place of the heart and there's a tube running to the lips of the mask that doesn't hinder the larynx.:erg:

This is one thing I did not quite get. In
Truart's Manor, you find that 'secret' area with the corpses and evidence that they are turning the corpses into the servants.
At least thats what I thought. So, are servants merely animated corpses (ew?!) with some sort of residual. . .memory left, or are/were they actually live people sergically (and torturously) altered? I know in T2X they went with living people altered horribly while they are still alive and concious (a concept that makes me somewhat ill. . .I had to skip that scene the second time through) and sort of 'borgized'. But in T2, there was not a lot of indication of that, apart from the fact they murmured about being cold and thanking you when you kill them. Or did I miss something?
Either way those are one thing in T2 I always make a point of killing. . .just to be merciful. :P (although,w hy I care about pixels, I never know. lol)

technically, you're wrong. it's not in
truart's mansion, as the little torture room you find in the basement i think is just an attestment to truart's crueler nature,
but in
the mechanist seminary, with, ironically, a mechanist servant operating the machinery.
