Have you got any rope arrows? The balcony dummy :cheeky:
Fraser on 30/9/2008 at 06:42
Um, I tried that, too. The balcony didn't work for me -- the rope arrows don't come down far enough, on either side of the balcony. They just hang there way up in the air. I'll give it another shot.
I have the three hearts and the three stone keys. I've also rescued six citizens. But I seem to have come to an impasse. There's another area, obviously, I can see guards beyond a gate, right beside the brothel. Darned if I can work out how to get in there. I have the Butcher's key, maybe that will help.
And I remember stumbling across a lovesick note from the one of the local merchants saying that he wants to run away with his lady love, only I can't remember where I saw it, and it obviously wasn't a note I could take away. The gentleman in question is in no condition to discuss the matter at the moment, so I'm not about to let him out of his store. But I think he's talking about Ophelia.
I have to admit that Garrett has knocked out every one of the rescued citizens. They're just so darned ungrateful. I like to let them run around a bit first, squawking for the guards. Good luck finding one, I say. They've all been stuffed into dark corners, being somewhat...indisposed.
I must go back into the brothel, though. There are some other areas on the second floor I need to investigate for loot. I got caught the first time, ran off down a hall, and my word, the things that go on in there, I mean REALLY, no wonder the local authorities shut the place down, it's a bloody disgrace.

Re the balcony. Try a different angle. Off the ends.

I still can't get into Sir Giles upper manor. The wooden beams on the balcony don't extend over the edge of the balcony, so the rope arrows only come down to the top of the balcony railing. I've tried about 50 different spots over the last two nights, and not once has the rope come down past that point. You were talking about the balcony in the inner courtyard, right?
Also, I'm stuck now. I have the butcher's key but I can't find the door it fits. The only other place I haven't been is guarded by a guard facing the place I have to enter ,,,a courtyard where someone is dancing. I'm assuming there's another way in, but I cant find it.
Edit: I finally got into Sir Gile's place. I was right; You have to climb up the statue, then you can use the rope arrows onto the balcony.
As for the other area, I got past the guard, and found a ton of loot in the tavern, but this is a dead end -- just bars stopping me from going further (and, incidentally, stopping me from retrieving my noisemaker arrow) I can see into the art merchant's house through the door and window, but don't see a way past the guards.
How do I progress? I'm going back to the cathedral to take care of the sisters but after that I'll be stumped.

Never used the statue. It can be done without. I guess some of us just hit the right spot.
Also take a look when you get back out the front gate (the only way out), to the small window to the left of the open area where the gate is.
The butchers key will be needed later. You've not been in the right place yet. The butcher is left of the fountain that is in front of Maya's steps near the Wharfside.
The butchers place is the key to all your current problems, including the Art Merchant.

The Butcher: look at the map. Pass through the arch in Oak's Square (near Mrs.Dowson) and go toward Wesgate Wharf. There is a little gate on the left. BTW, did you enter Mrs.Dowson house?.
Once you will find the butcher you will find all the rest. :)

theBlackman beated me. :D BTW, I always used the statue myself. I never managed to reach the balcony with the rope arrows, but I know that many taffers, betatesters included, did it that way. ;)

A picture might help:

http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m156/jiansonz/SevenSisters5.jpgLeaning forward helps to get a good angle for the shot.
(and my shot was far from perfect - the arrow is not stuck in the outside part of the wood, it´s on the side facing down. The rope is still good for climbing (I tested it). Make sure you don´t get the rope too close to the torch because it will then be in the way for the jump onto the balcony.
It is much easier to fire a good arrow if you stand on the upper level (rope up on the beam above the well, then a running jump + mantle onto the upper level), but if you do it like in the picture it´s much easier to deal with the guards. There is a nice dark place in the corner on the upper level (I don´t remember if I doused that torch to get it dark enough, though...).

That's how I do it, but from the other side and I put the arrow into the vertical part coming down from the roof instead of directly into the bottom.
Good picture. :thumb:

I did shoot the arrow to that exact point of the balcony, but only once I was on the ledge above. (where the archer is) The rope was always too high too climb from the ground.

I guess I'll have to go back and do it again. I know that when B-testing and playing I did it from the Gate side. I only got on the rooftop (archers walk) by jumping FROM the balcony after I had searched the room and went to leave. :)
