Wot? You can get on the roof? Argh. Means I have to go back there.
Anyway, the statue worked for me.
I found the butcher's shop and, awwwwww, that poor little itty bitty burrick just pining away in there.
I also loved the lady in the wine bar. I tried to knock her out and she smacked Garrett upside the head with her wine bottle.

She put an end to my first no-reloads attempt! Nasty surprise...

The last two posts above are good examples of why being sneaky is better than being a thug. :ebil:

Sneaky is best...until you really want to explore a place. I was convinced that there was an as-yet-undiscovered secret in there, and the bartender and his bottle-swinging customer were in the way.
I'm in the third night now, and I've sneaked my way all the way to the end...but I have that thief's secret, and there are so many beams to look behind, which means that I will now have to pull out the blackjack. Starting with Sarafina, then work my way back.

After taking a long brake from playing Thief missions (which had probably somethig to do with discovering Morrowind) I just picked up where I left and finished Night two, so I can finally add my "Thank you!" here - I had a very good time playing it. Now I'm looking forward to Night three :)

Again, one of the bestest of the bestest (:p ) that I've ever played! Was saying that about Sensut's Bathory FM's as well...go figure! :)
Anyhow, found a couple of ways to climb "onto the top of the world" of (East Fording?) or whatever's this town's called... always fun to post these...
The first two were from Night One (note the hole in the cathedral ceiling is still there), and the rest I took during Night Two.

Again in the cathedral area, but viewing over the wall into that canal area where Sewer zone #3 is:

On top of the *front* balcony at Sir Giles :) (nothing there, of course):

One of the first squares you encounter in this (market area where an infected was being toasted...well done (hardyharhar)! ):

The Mechanists' compound/Mayor's house square:

The smaller square where you can see the library and its entry balcony on the right:

In another of the "newer" areas - behind the butcher's, showing the burrick pen area:

And a long view of Oak Square, brothel/balconies and the fountain easily in view:

I wonder how you managed to go up there.....and amazingly the game didn't crash!
In the 2nd version I really tried to block the player from going to places whee he/she shouldn't go, but as I see it was useless. I surrender! :D
If it didn't spoil the game atmosphere for you, I hope that you enjoyed it anyway. :)
theBlackman on 30/12/2008 at 05:53
I got there also, in cathedral mission, the access from the roof of the crypt is a long jump to the exterior wall.
Near Giles' takes a little more creativity.
In the Beta, Lady Rowena told me I shouldn't have gotten up on the wall at the Cathedral.
Good job, nice pics. :thumb: :thumb:

my saying, "one of the bestest of the bestest that I've ever played!" pretty much tells you that no game atmosphere was destroyed...! :) :) Oh yeah, it crashed a number of times while traipsing on high...hehe...but in general, I'm always careful to "keep my head down" as much as possible when I'm climbing around on tops of worlds. :thumb: Even with any crashes, it's always fun to do...
My two entry points for "top of the world" areas:
First, at the entrance to the Cathedral, on the trashed and rubbly side of the tombs entrance building you have to navigate around. Run up to the highest point of the rubble slope, then turn quickly and try to mantle up onto the tomb bldg at the lowest point possible. Climb up more, then an easy jump to the outer cathedral wall. Then to get to the far outer walls of the city/realm, walk over toward that bathlike fountain across from the printers' shop. To get any further that way, find the invisible wall extension and mantle up onto it. :) Then at the end closer to the cathedral, a leap and mantle to the higher building top to the right (Hammer bldg?). Also, On the Second Night, in the space just in front of Sir Giles' mansion and gates in the "new" area -- Enter the gates at the Archway Walk, then all the way "back" crossing in front of Giles' place, and stop at the narrow side gate that shows there (one that apparently can't be opened). Then look up, up above the wall and the iron pointy fence above that, there a rooftop gable area with rope-arrow-shootable wood. Rope doesn't come down far enough, but stacking a couple of bodies and then leaping on top of those gives you just enough height (and many failures before succeeding usually). :) Then I think I just mantled up onto the roof there, then headed over to the outer walls. That's actually how I found one of the nearby secrets, instead of the conventional way... :laff: To get on top of the guard towers/front balcony, you'll have to take care to leap onto the top of that iron fence segment, since there's a higher invisible barrier "extending" the fence height. Then you can walk around practically to the balcony.
Belissimo! (sp?) :)

Is there any way to get into Basil's shop? The front door is frobbable, but neither lockpicks nor keys will open it.
