You can sometimes get "outside the box" by thinking outside the box. :)
Yes, using fruit as a mean of vertical transport is definitely... creative.
@Lady
No worries, I tend not to butcher missions like this... too often. ^^ Playing SS regular way is definitely satisfying enough, but sometimes it's just too tempting to abuse the engine, for various reasons, like taking an awesome screenshot etc.
By the way, it took me like half an hour of reattaching the rope arrow and repeating teh jump before I finally managed to get onto Dancing Burrrick's 2nd floor balcony, only to find out the door is not frobbable. I felt sad :(

[About Pinky]

What happens if a player kills him?
Quote Posted by Lady Rowena
It's strange, no one else asked, and no one tried to kill the little burrick. All good guys around here! :D At least no one confessed to have done it.
Well, I did it.:ebil: Nothing wrong with a tasty little burrick steak, preferably "well done", eh? I would even have shared that meal with Mrs. Dowson, but alas, she doesn't know what she misses!
Quote Posted by Lady Rowena
If you consider that the player has already had his/her reward, and the key on Mrs.Dowson belt may be tempting and since Pinky becomes agressive if you dare to blackjack his owner, I thought that a cynical player could have thought: who cares of the little bastard?
I rather thought... if I carry his remains back to
the butcher, maybe I can get
just another reward for little Stin... errm, Pinky?:cheeky: Too bad it didn't work.
Yes, it's true: I am an evil man. And greedy.:ebil: Wasn't it Garrett himself who said something about feelings coming in between him and his money?

In fact it's not like that:
if you do, Mrs Dowson dies of a heart attack and you faill the objective to not let any human die as a consequence of your actions. :)
This even happens if one
knocks her out first, takes her into her bedroom again, closes the door, returns to the outside and then kills Pinky. Either she's telepathic, or she really has a very close connection to Pinky.

Hmm, I wonder
if it´s OK with Mrs. D. if you BJ Pinky... Gotta try that next time.
I tried it a few times, but it did not work with Pinky. Then again,
he must have been aware of my presence, perhaps that was the reason for not being able to send him into the realm of dreams. Concerning burricks:

I prefer knocking them out rather than killing them
Technically, are they
unconscious or
dead after blackjacking them? Although they go down with just one good whack from behind, I have never managed to injure an "unconscious" burrick, e.g., by attacking his body with the sword. That made me believe they're dead after a successful blackjack. And since I never had any unconscious burrick fall into water or lava, I don't know whether they still scream after loosing consciousness.
The only little nitpick I have is a bug with the woman drinking in a small court not far from the art dealer. If I pick up her bottle, I can only
drop it, but not
throw it away. Everything else went fine during the second night in the city.
Oh, and one question still bothers me, since I found no clear answer to it in the thread: You cannot do anything to prevent the death of the cat
imprisoned with the Judge's dead wife, can you?
And concerning the Judge's wife: Can I
do anything to/with her? She lights up when I get close to her.

But....you still entered the 2nd floor in Night 2 someway, didn't you?

I don't think so. The question arises just because you can't pick up the body and read if it says "corpse" or "unconscious body".
You could see the difference if there was an objective which says "Don't kill any living being, not even animals".
And...don't be so nitpicking! :D Mrs.Dowson clearly says in her diary that she would die of a heart attak if she know that something happened to Pinky. Since
he has returned, it's clear that he shouldn't disappear again,
Note that if you kill Pinky at the butcher's, or wherever, before she sees him, she doesn't die. It was rather complicated to set up. :)Quote:

Ehhm no, there's no way to save the cat. I would like to, but unfortunately we can't have living cats or any other quadruped in Thief.

No, you can only
kake her necklace. If I remember well I make her hiight only to let you know who she is.

:idea:What about
faking one?
Maybe if the cat
bolted out as soon as the door is open, the player wouldn't notice that only the cat's rear legs actually move. I don't know much about DromEd, but from what I can see in-game, the
rats are "fake quadrupeds" in this sense.
By the way, what are the large spiders, technically?

I can't answer, I'm not a modeler. :o
Anyway I always had in mind a
dead cat and his ghost miaowing to catch the attention on the crime tha was committed (Poe style) :)

I'm stuck in this mission. I've been to the Mayors and the Butchers, but can't seem to find my way into Giles place. I've been to the sewer entrance, taken a swim and found a barrel that I managed to mantle onto once, however after many tries can't get on the barrel to shoot a rope arrow to a beam above me. Is this the way in?? Or am I missing something else?
Gloria Creep on 8/10/2012 at 01:02
I'm not sure .... but I think that is the way in :thumb:
Try again
