@Lady Rowena: Do you think Fidcal would make a good beta-tester? He's certainly exploring the game more thoroughly than your testers did!

Yeah, but designers would have some sort of time-limit, surely? :joke:

Fidcal's Log : Day 40 total gamesave time 29:35 +17:50-ish. Searched again gardens and areas leading down to lake. I must have something completely wrong so much of this session spent rethinking all my assumptions. Six sisters wait 7 years for 7th to join them. Lair beyond portal. After she joins them should be a ceremony. But Black Sister dead and 'another' sister with 'magic arrows' took black heart went (back/forward?) through portal and gate closed. As the writer was a skeleton I took that as ancient history and there is a new Black Sister but maybe it means in the last half an hour since this mission started. The objective combines 'kill Black Sister AND destroy heart' so it doesn't help me decide if the Black Sister is dead as the objective wouldn't complete anyway. I also took the 'gate' to mean the gate to the other portal booth but maybe it means the outer gate. I never saw it but there is a message on a floor plate indicating a gate closed 'As long as even one of the six Sisters' hearts exist.' So since the skeleton guy could get that far maybe it means one of the other sisters has the black heart now - in recent times. Well, since I've turned over every stone in this area I guess I should head back to the other two sisters - reluctantly as it seems unlikely one is supposed to get this far only to turn all the way back (not easy with no KOs.) So spent most of the rest of this session getting back to Heather's clearing through the burrick caves and the pagans in the forest. But of course I've already scoured that area. Worked round again but no sign of anything new. I'll go round again tomorrow and then try the bandit sister back at the mill. There's also the three keys that 'They' have but who 'They' are I do not know - except since everything comes in threes I assumed three creatures but it might not be - might be the pagans in the forest or the thieves in the mill. I'm just going over the same areas again and again but obviously I must have missed something somewhere. I'm doubtful that I needed to get 6 keys to get through a portal only to find I need to go back to find 3 other keys. Tomorrow I may need to rethink my rethinking...

I'm sure he'll never read it, but really, Fidcal has to stop running around like a madman, and instead sit down and think about the clues he has.

I agree with you Nameless, sometimes it is wise to put yourself in the designer's shoes. Would the designer put a vital key in a random spot where only the most thorough (or lucky) players would venture? No. Not in a mission pack of this quality.
I agree that this puzzle is perhaps the hardest on Night Three, but the clues are still quite close and obvious if you ask me.

To me, if you are banging your head that hard on a mission, this mission, any mission, step away from it for a few days.
Fidcal, take a break.

Fidcal's Log : Day 41 total gamesave time 30:10 + 18:15-ish. Spent this session really making sure I had not missed anything in the forest. Almost got on top of that giant rock in Heather's clearing but not promising so I did not persist. Went through every tree room in the forest and mapped it to make sure I had not missed one. There might be the odd secret by roping up every tree but I doubt the main thrust of the mission will rely on such so will not pursue that. Back through burrick caves. Did not examine all that again as have done so several times and mapped it so there is little chance of an opening missed on those blank walls. I did take more care looking at 'in-between' areas - the areas you tend to rush through on the way to the main areas - but without success. No point in going back over the gardens and lake areas again as I have spent several sessions there. I even tried to retrieve the stone keys I had already used just in case! Studying the start area again and the underwater passages. Now back at the mill but I am not hopeful unless there has been a change since I was last there as I been pretty thorough before. Will continue tomorrow but am pretty sure I have examined every reachable inch of this mission - and looked close at artifacts and wall decorations etc in case they have a close frob. All I can think of is that you have to do something I don't normally do like kill a certain person to trigger something.

Fidcal's long series of logs, without asking for help or reading replies, seem to serve no purpose other than to take up web space. What is the point? To prove that the missions are too difficult? To prove that nobody could possibly complete them without help? Or perhaps that Fidcal is not very observant. One line would suffice: "I think the missions are too difficult. Nobody could do this without help." I personally think that is not true in general. I did need help in a couple of places. Some others did not need help in those same places. So what? If the mission is any good, there will always be challenges. The difficulty level in this mission set is perfect, IMO.

Agreed Peter, but some people are too prideful, or masochistic. :ebil:
Or is it EGO?
