I've been wondering why he keeps posting stuff that makes it clear he needs help as soon as he's done for the day. It's starting to get annoying, because he won't take any help! Why doesn't he just keep logs of his progress each day and post them when he finishes the mission? I think it would be a little more interesting that way . . .

Fidcal's Log : Day 42. total gamesave time 31:27 + 20:00-ish. Almost ready to crack. :) Have got back to mill and searched it very thoroughly yet again but no change. I wasn't hopeful but it had to be done. I have now covered every available area many times. Now back to garden and checked it through again. I can find nothing further here. Back to lake and the same. All areas I have checked the routes in between as well. Checked for gaps, switches, possible climbs and ropes. Nothing. Read the readables over and over. Now fairly sure that the Black Sister who was killed has been replaced and still lives and that readable was ancient history. What or where the 'dead forest' is I do not know. The reference to the lake is clearly within this area through the Portal of Chaos so presume the dead forest is also this side and not the pagan's living forest. But no sign of any forest here. So there is no clue as to where the Black Sister is other than that her lair is this side of the portal. There is no clue as to what these three locks in the middle of these concentric circles are for. There is no obvious door that they lock. The only clue is that 'they' have the keys but no idea who 'they' are. The only other clue is the Book of Prophecies but that just says the Black Sister must first be killed then the amulet destroyed in the fire. So there is no clue at all as to what to do next that I can figure out and I have nothing to work with. The one other avenue is that other portal 'booth' but I can find no way in and it seems more likely a return path from somewhere. Maybe tomorrow I'll think of something...

Fidcal's Log: Day 496
Found my way around a tree, again. I recognize it from day 78. I may be going in circles. Food supplies have been depleted, must resort to cannibalism. Yesterday's Sherpa was a bit gristly and tasted slightly of rancid yak. Still cannot find key stone, must back track. So tired. It's been so long since I've had the good dark sleep. This may be the end...one can only hope....

Fidcal's Log : Day 43 total gamesave time 32:20 + 18:45-ish - Alright! major breakthrough! I was very close to begging for help today but decided to have one more thought session. Then I found the slenderest of clues. I decided to start exploring the areas I normally avoid or run through - heavily patrolled bright areas etc. I had gamesaved the day before in the middle of the concentric circles where the three locks are so started there. Normally I just race round the circles avoiding the gaseous elementals, fairly easy to do, but now raced round looking more carefully at the walls, floors, ceilings in those circles (note that I have gamma turned low to get the best shadows but do sometimes miss things like that sewer station ladder in Night 1.) A moss arrow! Knowing that often ammo is left near where it is needed I figured, maybe this is how to defeat those elementals. I had tried before with water and broadheads but since they are easy to dodge I had not pursued the matter. The rest followed on. Now reached a dungeon with a clue that I wish I'd had before - but maybe everybody but me knows that moss smothers gas elementals. Anyway, can continue tomorrow with high hopes again. :)

Fidcal's Log : Day 44 total gamesave time 32:20 + 19:00-ish. Spent this session scouting the new area and with my main objective in sight I recall an earlier clue so have a good idea how to proceed and complete this. Assuming no more surprises! No KOs or kills needed so far but not so sure about when I have to dispose of the final heart which looks very brightly lit. Been close and might be able to sneak up one side but otherwise it may be a dousing. Amazing atmosphere and nervy background sounds that had me keep looking behind. :thumb:

Fidcal's Log : Day 45 total gamesave time 34:00 + 19:10-ish. Finished! Started Christmas eve and after 45 game day sessions completed in a total of about 53 hours! Whew! On Night 3 I only found 2 out of 5 secrets and 3470 loot out of 4010 and 3 of the black diamonds (out of ?) so considering the extreme vigorous searches I made in the pre-lair sequence either I am totally stupid or what I missed was in areas in the lair where progress was more regular and my searching not so extensive. I hope the latter.
The best missions I have ever played and yes, completeable without help though I found it really difficult to do so. Well, as someone said about my own missions, the more things there are to solve then the more likely it is that you get stuck on at least one of them. Four places I got stuck for a long time - the texture I didn't realize was wood in Night 1 - just one of those things I guess; the light switch in Night 2 - I had so many other options the first time I saw the bright lights of the casino I just assumed I would find a better way and took that as equivalent to a 'front door assault'; I couldn't originally climb over the garden wall in Night 3 so just assumed it was architecture like the fence at the side of the mill; and, also in Night 3, no idea where the three stone keys were. I don't know if air elementals are in TG and it is 'known' that they are destroyed with moss, but I never knew and that one nearby moss arrow hint was lost in darkness for me considering I was running for my life. So, no grumbles but it does support the view that alternate routes are often a good idea where possible and/or realistic plus a bit more of a clue for that last one (considering other clues where good.)
These missions are not only awesome, each one of the three nights is huge - the last one seems almost two missions on its own. The effort, over four or five years, to make these is mind-bending. In an alternate universe this work, sold commercially at $20 would be regarded as good value by its fifty million players and Lady R would be sipping champagne on one of her private jet planes while JK Rowling might just be writing stories for fans on the net. There is no justice in this world.
Guess I might have a read of these threads now........... :)

Most definitely read the threads.

Right, got the first heart from the treebeast, but i'd be damned if i can find this mill. The only other area is that place beyond the cliff with the evil grey undead ladies that must lead to the final ho-down.
So, where is this mill?
