But do you think Commchat would be a better place? :erg:
The thread would probably derail in 5 posts.
Namdrol on 18/12/2009 at 23:11
@Jah Agreed, but sometimes it's nice to talk amongst ourselves with out the cutting edge, so freakin' cool it hurts, sometimes found up in comm chat.
BrokenArts on 18/12/2009 at 23:16
Agreed Namdrol, I think it went fine. No place is immune from Comm Chat. Its how people handle themselves which will dictate the thread outcome.
I wonder if Biker is snowed in, with no power.

I'm afraid that whenever the conversation moves to volatile topics like politics or religion, the cutting edge always comes out sooner or later.
I've been a member of another Internet community for the last 14 years. Most of the time, we're able to chat about pretty much anything between heaven and earth and remain perfectly civil and friendly. But whenever politics or religion come up, things always, ALWAYS, turn into flame wars and personal attacks. And honestly, I don't see why the ThiefGen forum on TTLG would be any different.
Personally, I don't mind having discussions about topics not directly related to Thief. It's just that 14 years of experience have showed me that politics and religion are topics that are next to impossible to discuss in a public forum without things getting nasty. I don't think this forum needs any more nastiness. CommChat, on the other hand, seems to have so much nastiness already that I figured over there, nobody would notice the difference. :p

So yeah, he's just um,
stealing all his facts. (feeble attempt to get back on-topic).
I'm in England and I've got NO SNOW TO
STEALING.
Dammit, where's my snow? :(
Nightwalker on 19/12/2009 at 03:12
This WAS about snow not global warming, politics, etc. so let's get back to that. Jah is right in that this is not the right forum for political debates and if it continues to derail, it will have to be closed.

Well, where I'm at it's wet and cold but no snow thank goodness. However I would like to note that I think it would be a great thing to have a 'no nonsense' general discussion forum here, I'd be happy to admin for it if the rest of the staff is too busy to cover it.
