Has anyone played the PC port of Shadow of Memories (or Shadow of Destiny in N. America)? How is it, any major technical issues?
Thanks in advance.
I have the game on PS2 and it's a lovely Adventure title, with fantastic art direction and lovely hand-made animation. I'd love to see the game in high resolutions.
I found the following quote from a (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JsR5v6ICeNM) Youtube video's description> I'd imagine that audio sync issue is related to affinity on multi-core CPUs, likely easy to fix.
Quote:
A few bugs with the PC version of the game. One being how the sound unsyncs during long cutscenes, and the other being that modern graphics cards cant seem to select higher resolutions and any of the special effects like blurring. You don't notice this however except at the end of chapter 1 maybe when
something just seems missings.
MOvie isnt super smooth because i had to try and record at 60fps otherwise fraps would of slowed down the 60fps menus. While the main game is at 30fps. My laptop couldnt really keep up but its still very watchable like.

I didn't have any problems playing it on my (old-ish) XP laptop. It's been a while, though. If the sound de-synched during cutscenes, I may not be remembering it.

I was going to ask/post about this same game. I had it on PS2, and I still have a copy on PC> I have never had any issues on XP, but I remember the game would only do like 640x480 or 800x600, so no 'high res' though it does look better than on PS2.
Have you ever finished it?

How do you mean? There's about 5 or 6 possible ending at most and a few quite a choices to make - I think that I've seen at least 3 of the endings (PS2 version, don't own the PC port yet). Repeat playthroughs can take you about 1-1.5 hours once you've memorised the puzzles, IIRC.

I simply meant had you at least seen a couple endings. It is really wild how different they can be.

The PC controls are HORRIBLE - the game won't properly recognize gamepads, so you can't control the camera and move the character using one. So you have to use an awkward keyboard control scheme that is (if I remember correctly) difficulty to modify.
Otherwise, runs fine.

Thanks for the feedback. Xpadder to the rescue then, I'll model it after the PS2 version's control scheme.
