Sorry, but I don't think a Thief-type universe is a good setting for any kind of multiplayer - even co-op.
Sneekers are just not good multiplayer games.
Man, I couldn't disagree more. I
love the setting, and have had more fun playing cooperatively than you could shake a Burrick at. :) I find the environment ideal for coop play.
One thing that wouldn't work, though, is using coop while having humans playing guards
and thieves. By its nature that setup isn't cooperative, it's competative. But brudduh, you get a couple of thieves playing together, and it's a blast.
Oh, and don't sell the human guards short when it comes to team-vs-team play. I made that mistake, and quickly found out that experienced players that know their stuff can stomp the thieves into the dirt easily enough. It's nowhere near as unbalanced as I'd assumed when playing tactical MP.

I too would have to disagree. Thievery is my first online game i've ever played. And after playing a multitude of others, Thievery is still the one I come back to, and its because of the Multiplayer Sneaking. Its like playing splinter cell, but without predictable guard paths on a VS mode. And for coop its great to join your friends to find different ways to beat a mission. Creativity is at an all time high when the game slows down and lets you be creative, rather than smashing the fire button down and strafing side to side.
I guess it just depends on what appeals to different people and what their expectations are going into it.

@Spar, If you have a problem with perceived "agression", that's you're problem alone, there is no tone of voice on the net, and I won't guild my posts with redundant smileys purely for your benifit.
And of the two of us, I'm the only one who hasn't got himself banned from a forum, ttlg in particular. You are hardly the person to be giving other people lectures on controlling agression.
Anyway, back to co-op;
Man, your idea of co-op seems to be a setting on an otherwise deathmatch server.
Here's a newsflash - true co-op has been around for years.
Play the pen and paper RPGs based on Dungeons and Dragons.
Play these games on arcade; Double Dragon, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Play these games on console; Super Contra (SNES), Halo 2 (XBox)
And for a list of PC games, just look above to the list I posted previously.
True co-op games take a single player experience, cutscenes and all, and simply let one or more players join in to play alongside each other and experience the otherwise singleplayer experience together.
All the games I listed in the other post play like this. We played through each of those games but once in our lives, and we played them together, from start to end - yes, like single player, but together. That's what co-op is.
We played them, we completed them, and we are done with them, just like single player, but together. No "repetition" is inherent in a multiplayer experience. Don't know where you get that idea from.

Hey guys,
Since we seem to have inadvertently hijacked this thread for a different topic, I've started a new thread for the co-op discussion. You can find it (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1440566#post1440566) here.
Good luck everyone on Shadow: Source. And by the way, I want it done and ready to play by a week from Tuesday, so get cracking! :)

Anyone reading that, who has played both typical MP and Coop games, immediately understands that you're a MP (deathmatch/team/ctf/etc) gamer that's never played a true coop, and thus doesn't understand the difference. You're applying your understanding to another facet of multiplayer, and it simply doesn't work, because it
isn't the same thing.
Funny thing is that I do understand the difference and I did play coop games with friends. :)

Please don't take any offense. I'm not trying to be rude or insulting in the slightest, and appologize if any of that came across that way.
No offense taken. :)
Taking this to the other thread.

Since I don't think that you are stupid I have to assume that you deliberatly deny it.

So what? You mean because I have been nanned once, this gives you the right to make snide remarks?

I'm glad that you are around to enlighten me. I never would have guessed that.

You could see that? Weird. Was supposed to be invis. :) Me and Nexis were playing through all the missions together. Wasn't intended to be an open game. We tried opening it on a few occasions, but few ever even noticed, and the ones that came in either tried to play tour guide, --basically revealing all the secrets and things to explore and discover ourselves--, or shot ahead of us and completed the objectives while we were still tying our boots laces. That got old
real quick, and we closed it so we could actually play the game.

Yep, got it. Hadn't replied yet (but you knew that --duh). lol
I don't have any recordings prepped or anything, but could probably do some samples on the PC. Lemme know if there's anything specific you'd like me to try on (styles and/or lines).
