So with 6 hours to go the Shadowrun Online kickstarter campaign needs just 4.5k to reach their target of 500k. Looking pretty damn likely that it'll happen.
Being a huge fan of Shadowrun I'll likely give this game a go.

Ok I just had a really disturbing, slightly off-topic-ish thought. Look at all the GameDev vets, trying to ressurect old IPs like Shadowrun or Wasteland with the help of community funding. Nothing wrong with that except... who owns the IPs? Is it big publishing studios? Because if so ...
Publisher Exec A: "So basically, we get the customers to pay for the development of the product, while still getting profits from selling the finsihed product because we own the IP. All without investing a dime of our own!"
Publisher Exec B: "Brilliant!"
please prove me horribly horribly wrong :weird:

Generally it seems that the devs running the Kickstarters own the IP (the pitch text or video usually mention this) but I do believe that the Leisure Larry guys, for example, are only leasing the IP.

In the case of Shadowrun the original creator of it (Jordan Weisman) owns the rights if I remember right. He ran an earlier kickstarter campaign a few months ago for a single and multi-player rpg which well and truelly went past its target bid amount.
