Just got the nerve to try this FM again. The 1st time I gave up as I didn't know what the heck I was doing, or where I was going. Just ran around in circles ranting, "too dark, too dark; where am I".
So glad I gave it another try months later. It was such a different FM and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Will probably play it again as I didn't come across a disappearing statue...how would I know?...couldn't see squat. It's as well, because I was already freaked out and that would have put me over the edge.
I would have liked to see a longer FM as others mentioned, and more of a story. For a first try, it was heroic!
More, more!!

I'm under the impression you didn't know there was a flare. :p

I appreciate the constructive criticism and praise. It really helps for improving future projects, as well as giving me motivation to keep going... something DromEd tends to take from me some days. :thumb:
A few notes about SoE's development:
There was originally a big area where the niche in the bricks are behind the stack of crates. Instead of hitting the switch on the wall, the player had to go into this area to find a fuse for one of the machines in the gate room in order to proceed. Alternatively, the player could find an alternate route up into the mines to get around the gate. In the end, I scrapped the area because of too many errors, and because I was too lazy at the time to re-build it.
There were plans to have the pursuing guards break into the mines at some point, but I scrapped the idea; wanting to keep the scene in isolation with undead, and the unknown.
The final fight with Joran had to be redesigned at the last second because something blew up on me. Suffice to say it went from being an elaborate fight to a simple dispatch with an arrow.
The Relic was originally usable, and key in finding an easter egg, but thanks again to random errors I had to scrap it.As for more, SoE:2 is well on it's way. I'm expecting the preview trailer to be done around the end of this month.

In my recent post, I had finally discovered the flare which made all the difference in the game. That's why I'm glad I tried it again.
Looking forward to your 2nd episode of SoE :thumb:

I got rid of the 3 haunts in the cathedral, got the surface key and went into the room where a scroll says that there's a key over the armoire. no key..... what am I supposed to do next?

Go back down to the foundry and use the key on the door with the note next to it, just beyond the big door.

I finally got around to playing this mission, and what a pleasant surprise it was!

That was... Intense...
I do have to say it might have been even more so if more things lurked in the darkness, especially in places in total darkness where you would come across them abruptly, like the sewers etc.
Of course then again, that kind of thing might give even horror afficionados like myself debates on whether to keep playing or not...
Nice atmosphere, and use of darkness was a totally great idea. I have never been so happy for light (:weird: ) in all my time playing thief.
If you and DrK teamed up I think I'd play with the lights on, lol.
