Not sure how much of the old 200X crew is still around, but since the Thief reboot is underway I figured I'd dust off my blackjack and re-introduce myself to the community.
For those that *do* remember me I'm doing quite well. I got my doctorate in Environmental Microbiology last year. I'm running my own lab and bioprocessing facility in Southern California. I have a great new apartment all to myself and I'm spending as much time as I can finding good stealth games. Since Thief: DS, I only found few good sneakers. Hitman: Blood Money was pretty f****** boss. I really liked the vignette story telling and the fact that each mission's anominity depending on your behaviour from the previous mission. The music was also fantabulous.
I don't know about you taffers, but Skyrim is amazing as a thief. You can customize your abilities to such an insane extent. Gotta love that Nightingale gear! I can go on and on about that game.
Dishonored was really trying to be like thief, but didn't quite pull it off, mainly because the steathiness of the game was so warped. Especially with the warping feature. Meh. The steampunk environment was a nice touch though.
Can't really think of many other stealthy game highlights off the bat.
Who else is furious that Stephen Russell hasn't been asked back!? The worst is that it isn't due to scheduling conflicts but because they wanted to have the stunt performer be the voice actor. Um, yeah, this isn't LotR, we don't need Smeagol. I love their excuse, "Garrett is very athletic." Um....no Thief fan would describe Garrett as athletic off the cuff. Tens of other descriptors come to mind before athletic. Oh well, what do you expect, they're clearly rebranding the game for youths that have no f****** clue what stealth games are. Why else would they incorporate that ridiculous Focus feature. The fact that Focus allows you behave like a Jedi makes me laugh. Oh Eidos, what happened to you?
Anyways, I hope some of y'all remember me. If not, I'll shrink back into the shadows. Tata

Welcome back!
Yeah, I remember you. I'm still here since 2001. A lot of people have left for hundreds of reasons, and many have come back because of Thief 4 news. Most long-time members don't hang out much in this sub-forum but are heavily involved with the fan missions, making or playing, and another bunch have grown out of Thief and stick mostly to General Gaming or Community Chat. Since the March 5 T4 announcement, we've been debating Thief's qualities among games and, yeah, talking about Hitman, Dishonored, etc.

As I do you, old friend.
Yeah, I popped into the circle every other month, mainly to see where the CoSaS project lied, and if any major Gold-rated FMs were made, etc. I see that site hasn't been updated in years now. I guess it's basically dead. Same w/ CoSaS??
Yeah, I'm kinda out of the forum game due to work constraints, ad nauseum. But I'm glad to hear some of the old gang is still around.
Yeah, have no expectations for the Thief reboot. They're clearly rebranding it entirely but harkoning back to TDP (which I finally bought and played - - years ago, now). Seeing as how The Baron is in power (although, technically The Baron was away at war in TDP) and a plague is about. Meh. I guess we'll see. I only hope it allows for Lytha style gameplay, and the kin. (doubt it)

Yeah, I'm not impressed with T4, or Eidos-Montreal. Such a contrast to everything that endeared me to LGS and Thief!
CoSaS is barely alive. ImmortalThief is in charge of that project since Digital Nightfall left to go work at Arkane, having worked on Dishonored. I don't know who else is involved, nor how much progress has been made in the last couple of years on CoSaS 3: The Nine-Year Sleep.

Ah, the good ol' days. When LGS was the smarmy start up doing grand ol' things and there was only one Eidos. Haha, god we've got old. I think we should be drinking iced teas on a porch creaking away on rocking chairs ranting about how the neighborhood isn't the same.
I thought I tasted a flare of Digital Nightfall in Dishonored. Prolly the only thing that made that game semi-bareable.
Yeah, even when it was "alive" CoSaS was woefully under-manned. Hell, after they dropped their EP, it took them so very long to drop their full album.
Thanks, Vae. I dug that Stephen posted. Although he clearly played the diplomatic card and just praised the fans and his backstory but didn't play any hate cards on Eidos or state his "true" opinions. He's either a very classy dude or a politicking actor like the rest of them. Still, he's the only Garrett in my mind. On a purely personal note: Doubt a petition would do any good though, I'm sure all the recording is done with this chump "so called stunt actor" and it'd cost them too much to hire a new actor, draft a new contract, and record all the insane amount of VO time. But don't let my old ass dissuade you; fight the good fight! Long live, Stephen Russell.

You must understand, in order to leave the possibility of his return open, he mustn't publicly display the obvious feelings that practically everyone else has.

Oh Eidos, what happened to you?
It is now up to EM to correct their misguided ways...otherwise, I fear the community may not recognize NuThief as a THIEF game, at all.
