This is the equivalent of having the game logo made into a belt buckle and then grasping people by the back of the head and hip-thrusting into their face while the twilight zone theme plays on loop.
I'd play that

This looks genuinely shit. It's not 1996 anymore, Mikami.
You linked to Cry of Fear, so I think a little clunkiness and unoriginality can be forgiven. I don't see anything here that looks awful, really there isn't much info at all to go on beyond the sheer hyperbole.

It's a matter of degrees. Cry of Fear, while being essentially Silent Hill: Stockholm, tends to be more understated than... whatever the fuck this stupid thing is. It is the very definition of trying too hard. Cry of Fear in turn has a heavy emphasis on that creepy late-night atmosphere where it feels like an entire city clears out 15 minutes after COB.

This is kind of incidental because I know it's not how this game is going to go, but I wonder if there's potential as a concept for a horror game that goes overboard and is 'trying too hard' as you put it, but with some level of self-awareness. Maybe a protagonist who knows horror movie cliches inside and out, or expectations that keep getting subverted in some fashion, something to shake up what has become a fairly straightforward, formulaic genre. I don't know, just thinking out loud here.

It could be called "Scary Game".

I'd play that.
