You won't notice the graphics after the first half hour of playing as the tension will take over.
If your worried about gameplay consider that I played Thief DP on a Pentium 133 + Voodoo 1 (the first 3D gfx expansion card released). That got about 10 fps max and dropped to 1 fps in some sections of the bonehoard when the physics engine got bogged down. I used to spend ages throwing bits of zombie into the water to free up resources so the frame rate would go back up and never once did I feel like the immersion had beem ruined :)

The graphics look reallllly old from screenshots.
I dunno.. should I give it a try? Is the story and gameplay really good enough to the point where I can ignore the visuals and get into the game?
thanks in advance.
I'm sorry, nothing personal at you, but when i see someone judge a game by graphics and even when the game is old, it makes my damn skin crawl.

The graphics aren't even that bad either :erg:

Nah, the graphics aren't bad enough to make it not worth playing.

When Thief IV's out I'll start a thread named "I've bought and installed Thief IV...should I double-click on the desktop icon...???".

The response will be, "No, double-click on that cogwheel-like icon instead.
And face the Builder's wrath if thou dost not have it on thy desktop"

YES!:D:D
I'm not the person to ask, though . . . in my games folder I have a sub-folder called "Games.DOS" and one called "Games.WIN". Plus, I used to have an Infocom box set for Mac that I played to death. Even without graphics, ZORK still pwns! (Although Leather Godesses of Phobos is still kinda disturbing without graphics, never finished it . . .).
Plus, the worst graphic in Thief 1 and 2 is somebody's face, which, if you're playing properly, you never look at closely. :p
P.S. Also, you need to experience a proper briefing, and of course the old-style Haunts we love.
