Alone in the Dark was a fantastic survival horror, the sequel less so, and the rest of the series not so much at all.

How an intelligent person can seriously equate titles like ObsCure, The Suffering, Condemned in terms of HORROR with real things like team Silent's SHs, Fatal Frames, Forbidden Sirens or even Kuon is beyond me.
BTW, REs are too in the same league of Western 'horrors' as those you like.
My god you're a fucking weeaboo. Don't you get it? Horror is
subjective, and unfortunately the Japanese don't have a monopoly on it. And survival horror as a genre pretty much owes most of its early elements to Alone in the Dark- you don't get to say it doesn't.
You really have learned nothing from November. Have you watched Jacob's Ladder yet or are you still dismissing it because it's an 'action movie'? (Seriously what the fuck?)

it's impossible for him to respect the opinion of someone who only likes some of kubrick's films, you tasteless heathen

ALL is subjective, especially when it comes to art. Japanese don't have a monopoly on horror's games, but usually Japanese surhors are
deeper, more expressive, involving, ambiguous, much less straightforward and rational in the story department = scarier, at least from my POV.
About Jacob's Ladder, no. And I don't dismiss it, far more scarier films take my time now. F.e. a Soviet film where Komsomol workers decide do they want to take a money bonus for their work or not. Hour and a half. In one room.

At least from your POV, sure. Doesn't make it true.

Then shut up about Japanese horror- because nearly all of it rips off this movie. Until you watch this film you are not allowed to spew your ignorant
bullshit. Especially since you called it an 'action film' which is like calling Citizen Kane a romantic comedy. Just watch the goddamn movie you retard, you criticize me for not liking Kubrick but you can't put aside 90-some minutes to watch a seminal horror film that influenced the very thing you've been knobslobbering? Fuck you.

Sorry but you're not worth anything more erudite than that. Until you actually listen to what I have to say instead of repeating the same tired ignorant nonsense, I can't take you or anything you say seriously. Just go watch the movie, you'll like it, it's got a vague and ambiguous ending and doesn't always make sense, it's right up your alley.

dethtoll wins. Hands down.
Silent Hill 2 needs no remake. I just fired up my Xbox 1 version...it still looks, sounds AMAZING. The story and writing is ten times better than even a a well regarded vidya game script, and it is enthralling, immersive, scary as shit at times, and (get this) FUN. Leave well enough ALONE. Remakes are a waste of imagination, time, and resources unless the game originally was screwed over by time/money constraints, technology limitaions at the time, or the devs just plain ol' messed it up.

Yeah, that part where you're running around in the fog with no idea where the fuck you're supposed to be going so you have to walk up to every door in the entire goddamn town is just crazy awesome fun.
Ooh, and that part where you encounter a monster but then run away from it because combat in this game is like riding a unicyle through pudding... wooo, fun!
And the perfectly-paced storytelling! Telling you absolutely jack-shit about what's going on with your character for the entire game, then taking a minute-long exposition dump at the very end. Genius!

Eh, I liked it. I can see how it would be like nails on a chalkboard to some. I am like that with Demon's Souls. Everything about is is awkward and just completely unappealing to me.
