Ignoring the fact it's reimagining of the excellent first game, Shattered Memories is doing something new with the franchise and is innovative in general. For last two or three entries, SH has been put through the motions by has-been developers. Eg completely missing the point of SH2's sexy nurses and Pyramid Head and how they were supposed to be unique to how James' psyche interpreted the town.
This maybe the shot in the arm which the series needs.
The cool thing is that the enemies appearance change depending on your playing style. Being chased by a band of demons with boobs (yes they get boobs) has never sounded like a worse idea. You are absolutely right the nurses shouldn't be in the other Silent Hill games, but is Pyramid Head a personal demon? Isn't he supposed an ancient demon awakened by his guilt?

This is the game that's about running away, right?
The concept sounds interesting and maybe even scary. But you know, it doesn't sound fun at all.

I'm intrigued by this title. Silent Hill 2's atmosphere really engaged me but frankly I found the RE-style gameplay/ "find random objects and solve arbitrary puzzles while engaging of combat of questionable desing" enough to stop me from making significant progress.
Mind you, apparently this game has (if Joystiq is to be believed) absolutely nothing in common with the original apart from some shared names, but given that I've never played it it's not something that will work me up.

Played Call of Ctlu.akkksdb/lakl/dfn? The scene where you are chased and are desperately locking and barring doors was very creepy. I imagine it be be something like that, supposedly a stealthy aproach is usually possible.

From the gameplay videos, it seems like it's a morass of quicktime events.

It's one big open world without loading times, it will probably not be that hard to flee, but they will keep looking for you and a door isn't going to stop them, could be absolutely nerve wrecking, been waiting for something like this.

Fragony, this is Silent Hill we're talking about. Worrying about the monster you ran away from chasing you is going to be a luxury, because anywhere you run to will have another monster. If history is any guide, quite possibly several of them.
At any rate, that's not really the problem I'm concerned with. Having you run away, in a very dramatic fashion, in a game otherwise about bashing things skulls open works because it's a solid break to build tension. But those moments are much more appreciated for what they add to the mood then to their actual gameplay - because their usual gameplay sucks awfully.
Make a whole game out of it, and I'm thinking you'll end up with a very tense game that I do not want to play.

BOYCOTTING THE FUCK OUT OF THIS
They completely cocked this game up. When I said I wanted a remake of SH1, I meant I wanted the same game only prettier and maybe some irritating things fixed. I didn't ask for some bullshit consoletard reimagining where to win you just press A over and over again
PRESS START AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA CONGRATULATIONS YOU WIN
Silent Hill is dead to me.

Hmmm, always found monsters were incredibly easy to avoid, especially in Silent Hill 2 they don't pose a threat, Silent Hill 5 ramps it up a bit but isn't a very good game
