Update: Well I'm an hour in and I'd say I like it so far. The motion capture is pretty impressive and the premise is pretty damn intriguing so far.
But it doesn't feel like a Silent Hill game. There's no radio static, fog is minimal, and the monsters seem like left-over ideas from past games. And the sound for most of the monsters is atrocious.
But that being said, this feels like a gorier, less self-referential Alan Wake. For 8 bucks I don't mind...but from what you all say, it goes downhill pretty quickly...

Just finished the Water Prison section...I'm actually enjoying it a lot at this point. The story so far is one of the most sadistic in the series. The monster design isn't really in step with Silent Hill. They seem more like outtakes from Where the Wild Things Are and the later Resident Evil games.
Usually the sound work in these games are stellar, and the ambiance and music are spot on, but the monster sound effects are really perplexing. One enemy burps, another laughs, the dogs sound like those cliched cheetah howls you've heard in a million Hollywood movies. It's just odd given the high calibre of sound work in the SH games...
