The funny thing is that I bought my SimCity late enough to not have any kind of problems playing it, yet I get to choose a free game nonetheless. The question is: should I go for Battlefield 3, Dead Space 3 or Mass Effect 3? I have played none of those game series at all. Bf3 sounds fun, but does it need expansions?

Battlefield 3 is one of the best MP shooters out there, but the playerbase is gonna jump ship for BF4 in October so meh. You by all means don't need the expansions, the vanilla maps are by far the most popular on servers.

After playing Sim city for a while now, I can say that this game is fantastic when played with a friend. The fact that you are realistically in contact with the other's city is funny as hell, because the actions one take always have consequences for the other as well. I've also had no problems with the limited size of cities: It's actually a thing that rewards smart planning and you don't run out of things to do in one city even after many hours.
At the moment my city is producing all the electricity our cities need coupled with heavy mining industry. My friend on the other hand has a completely clean and attractive city, albeit he hasn't got his tourism thing working yet.

So, several weeks later and EA Maxis continue to pump out SimCity rhetoric at a rate that would make Kim Jong-un proud. Simulatenously, all cries of shenannigans and broken promises are ignored, bug reports go unacknowledged and Bill Clinton did not have sex with that woman.
I claimed my copy of BF3 and very good it is too. Maybe that's because it works.
Top tip for BF3:
1) Identify gobby member of team via chat
2) Lure gobby member of team into vehicle
3) Drive/fly vehicle into the ocean
4) Enjoy verbal abuse
