Has anyone else followed Simons into the interrogation room with the NSF prisoners? The first time through I was a good little UNATCO soldier and stayed out of his hair as I was told, but this time I said "what the hell, let's go see what happens in there." I've tried actually killing him there with some well placed shotgun blasts to the head, but he ends up killing me and both prisoners; however, my character isn't particularly good at close-quarter combat... Anyone else get a different outcome?

Nope, at that point he is unkillable. I think the designers were expecting people to stay outside, anyway.
If you'd like to have a bit of fun, stay until well after he kills the prisoners (he does that anyway) - some of his comments to you are mildly funny - he gets really p.o.

"Stay out of it Denton...you saw nothing..." and so on. It's really worth hearing the whole thing.
Yes, the designers did allow for you following Simons into that room - but since only Simons can open that door (makes sense) and it closes after a few seconds (security, makes sense) you have to follow him closely to make it in.
The reason I know the designers allowed for this is that there is a game trigger inside that is triggerable by the player so you can open the door again to get out.

Note that you can talk to one of the NSF if you make it through the door - seems that's what the pauses in Simons' interrogation are in there for - or am I guessing wrong again?

Hey! I looked at those lines and then forgot about it...well, the delay between barks can be set, and maybe you're right about why the delay is so long. Haven't looked to see if it's longer than the standard 5sec. 5 seconds is a pretty long time.
Heh. Off to annoy Simons by talking to the prisoners. Simply never occurred to me to do that. I've always just watched.

Not a bad conversation as political discourse goes for a computer game. It was well worth annoying Simons for anyways, but then just about anything that annoys him is a worthwhile and just cause
