awesome specs: i7 3770k @4.2 ghz, ATI 7870 2GB DDR5, 8GB RAM 1333 MHZ, Realtek sound chip, lots of free space in HD... and still jerky, both Thief Gold and Thief2.
When two or more AIs are chasing me, when a new sound or conversation is coming in, when readying the sword, blackjack, etc. That's a 0.2/0.3 seconds delay...

If someone is still interested I could try and explain. While I don't quite understand the mechanics behind why and precisely how it works I can reproduce it. At least the not taking fall damage part. Not the flying with blackjack or sword and blackjack part.

You also have to look in a specific way for it to work, it's kinda hard to explain. Basically if you look higher than the default view height, the slowfall glitch won't work. If you look down as much as possible you'll likely die or take severe damage. The slowfall glitch will not work if you "hit" someone after you've enabled it, since for some reason the blackjack hits everything that's close to it, but it still works if you hit objects. You have to enable the glitch again otherwise it won't slow your fall anymore.
You don't have to swing the sword and get the blackjack out, you can just swing the blackjack, hide it and draw it again, but you have to be fast. This also saves some precious milliseconds while speedrunning since Garrett runs faster and jumps further with the blackjack. I never managed to reproduce the flying bit though.

Also, it seems to me that one "charge" of the magical blackjack gets you two slow falls. After that it doesn't work anymore and you have to "charge" it again, like skacky said.

Also it will not work if (e.g. swordguard) will hit his sword to Garrett's blackjack. Effect would be, that after this incident guard's sword was stopped, but blackjack will be discharged (without force to slowing fall). Then one should to reload the blackjack.

Turbo button for "jump" and more than 50 fps would be rather required.

The dead Hashashin order, back in the 12th century, used this to their aid, when escaping from the top of enemy castle walls, bewildering pursuers and snipers.
Thief does it an subtle ode, as it seems.
