Of course, we all know the lines uttered by one of the guards: "Smells like old meat. That can't be me!" But every time I hear this, I wonder (and I don't know why I do) is the guard referring to himself, something else, or Garrett?
I have to say it's Garrett. Why else would the guard say such a thing once Garrett is within earshot, if the guard weren't "sensing" Garrett's presence?

Well, Garrett wearing aftershave would be even more of a dead giveaway. So better to smell like a dead rat or something.

I've always thought the guard is referring to himself. He's just mumbling, and Garrett just happens to overhear.

Well I can't say I've ever noticed Garrett wear something different or go to the launderette, so I'm entirely sure it's him. But what I really want to know is whether the guards say what they say when I'm not around to hear it. Do they mumble the same lines, or do they save them specially for me? :)
Of course you do, but what does that matter?

That's like asking what happens when a tree falls in the woods. :)

:) Yes. That's it exactly. And . . . ?

And you'll never know the answer. :)

It may or may not be Garrett. I was on the other side of a door leaning into it and heard a guard mutter it while he was halfway down a hallway I hadnt been in yet. So he couldnt have smelled Garrett, unless Garrett *really* smelled that terrible. But if that was the case, Im sure others would have mentioned it somewhere along the way...

Yah, what is that smell? ... It smells like old meat... what the... that can't be me, I washed a few days ago...
I always took him to be smelling himself but not really wanting to admit it to himself.

I always wondered and I like it that way.
