First time through DX, I was a SNEAKER: Primarily melee weapons, hacking turrets, etc. I tried to avoid direct combat, with my modded AR as a last resort.
Now, I'm a SHOOTER: Tons of guns, bay-bee. The Sniper Rifle, Sawed Off and Stealth Pistol, with tons of grenades, although I almost never use em. I'm roleplaying this playthrough as a bad-ass, nano-augged punk buster who takes no sh|t. Fun :)
Did you play (or are you playing as) a Sneaker, Shooter, or something in between?

my first game was a shooter. i wanted to get the full experience of all the guns and everything, plus i'm just that way sometimes.
my second game some how ended up with me being a sniper character. i'm not sure how it happened, as i didn't plan it, but by the end of the game i was a master at rifles and was taking enemies out from a mile away. vandenberg has go to be the best place to snipe.
i started a game as a sneaker, but never finished it. i would sneak but still kill or stun any guy i came across. the only time i ever used a weapon that made noise was when the shit hit the fan, and would whip out the ol' assault rifle, but by paris (which was when i stopped), that was silenced too.
i find non-leathal sneaking very hard, and only once did i attempt to do it, and that was just to see what paul would say. sides, if i ever feel like a good little sneaking romp, i'll just load me up some thief. but even then i still end up sword fighting every guy in the area....

I'm a non-lethal sneaker all the way, baybeee!!
I got da skilzz!
Area 51 completed with 0 fatalities!(btw:Simons is a wuss!)
The only problem I had was finding enough prod chargers.
Oh, how I wish for Garrett's blackjack....

I do both, whenever needed. No problem with mastered rifle skills. :D

I've played it through around 6 times, so I've played all the ways. My favourite would be a stealthy sniper. Sneak past people when possible, at close range, or pick them off from the distance. I like to throw in some high level hacking as well.

BOTH!! I snuck around and killed people... I liked this game as mucj as thief.. I'm on the last level and I dunno what i should do...
I have 3 options, I think that i will do 1 then reload and do the other 2

Dear mr oven,
There is wonderful li'le weapon called the baton, not often a one hit takedown but!... when used from behind it could be. Oh yeah! It also knocks victims unconcious instead of killing them. Technologically advanced blackjack anyone?

blackjack knocks them out not kills them!!

Sneaker all the way, and I like to set up tons of booby traps: like placing TNT crates in front of doors and in range of other mines and crates, etc. When I've taken out a sufficient number of baddies, I unleash hell by firing a single shot at one of the previously set up TNT crates, killing most guards around it, this sets off a chain reaction with the mines, and the poison gas barrels. My all time best kill was eleven guards with a single shot (NYC - when Paul asks you to betray UNATCO). Other times, I like to charge in with barrels blazing. Even then however I still prioritize shots by hitting TNT crates and gas barrels first. On master skill level for pistols all it takes is one shot to an MJ12 commando's head at point blank range (from behind of course) and the big steroid pumped bastard goes down. LAW weapons have greater area damage effect, so when there's a bunch of baddies together I temporarily sacrifice a few weapons and blast them to smithereens with this instead. Man, I hope Deus Ex II's team incorporates many ways to set up traps...
