It was fun to do that in SS2.

A note on batons (for those who find JC always gets killed when trying to use this weapon): Don't aim for the head, aim for the middle of the back (or the butt, if that catches your fancy).

It is fun to try both methods.

Mostly I start out as a sneaker (you wouldn't want to kill your future friends, would you?), but in the end I'm a master sniper (I hate those MJ12 Commando's). I also hack the turrets, so they'll shoot at the baddies. Saves me ammo

by the way, have you noticed that when you skip the Castle Clinton
mission, where Anna tells you about the precious opportunity to
exterminate NSF, and use non-lethal approach, later when you finnish with NYC and get back to UNATCO, there's a different dialog with
Sam Carter.
* SPOILER *
JC will complain about UNATCO not being proffesional and everbody
wanting to kill instead of behave like a real agents and Carter will
respond to that saying that sometimes the use of force is necessary.

I play it like a sneaker - the shooter style breaks my immersion. The "one man, big gun, attitude vs. legions of enemies" thing would only get you killed quickly in the real world. Sneaker style is plausible. Sneaker for me doesn't mean that I won't kill anybody, but I will do so in a sneaky manner.

I prefer stealth, as it suits my rather subtle personality.
I started the game as stealthily as I possibly could, killing as few people as possible and scraping up as much tranq darts as I could find for my crossbow (difficult to use when you're still untrained in accuracy and no weapons mods). It wasn't until that UNATCO plot twist that I realized I had to defend myself using any means necessary, so I trained to become a more skilled with the Sniper Rifle and Pistol, all while building up my hacking and electronic skills. For my augs I ended up choosing Silent Run, the Drone bot, and Nightvision, for total stealthy spying. I was happiest when prod zapping guards, planting LAMs, sniping, and re-programming security bots to annihalate each other.

i'm a big thief fan, so first time i played as sneaker, and i was brill too. But those guns especially the rifle with it's oh so satisfying bang are jsut too tempting. I would not silence my baby for anything. So yes, mainly i just kill anything that moves, i like the sawed off for close combat.
