Renz - Jack Frost's bitch.
No. Jack Frost makes me a whiny bitch. There's a big difference there. Get it right.
Xorak: Birds haven't been dinosaurs in years. Unless you run a giant seed plantation, you don't have anything to worry about anymore.

I've been running a giant seed plantation, and boy is my dino sore!

So last night's "catastrophic" (as described by the news media somehow well before the event even occurred) snow storm was a dud.
Out of the predicted 18-24" of snow that the local news (and even MI-PR) were calling for, we got about 6" out of the possible 8" to 12" that the WeatherUnderground had predicted.
I feel cheated, though south of us they had one helluva ice storm that I don't envy.

All of you guys who have never had snow before need to stop whining, go outside, and pee your name in the snow. Because you may never have the opportunity again.

O....M....G....!
We might've been hit by the Snowpacalypse, but damn am I'm glad we missed out the revengening. I think we lucked out because of the nice 65F degree (19C) heatwave that came rolling through the area over the last couple of days (now tragically over), making it too warm to snow. All we had to suffer through last night was a nice heavy rainstorm, and the resulting drop in temperature.
I think I speak for everyone here when I say damn this winter, I'm getting sick of talking about this cold ass weather, and I want it to be over.
But on the plus side, those are some nice shots, Dia. :D

Thanks Renz. Just tried using my legs & body to plow a path out my back door (so I don't have to take the dawg out the front on a leash, which is like a strenuous 30min. workout), but the drifts were up to my chest in some places & up to my ass in general (I'm almost 5'2"). My neighbor borrowed my snow shovel after the last snowstorm but hasn't been home in the last 24 hrs., so I guess I'm stuck for awhile.
Yeah, now that the holidays are over I'm ready for summer. :grr:

Just came back inside and am revising my original statement:
While we may not have gotten a ton of snow (though it was more than my original estimate from what I could see around the house--probably about 10" actually fell that I could measure in none wind-swept areas), we have drifts from hell. The the east side of the east-west-facing greenhouse was completely clean, while the west side had a drift all the way up and over the top that I had to clean off and pull back to allow anymore snowfall to slide off. So, right now, there is a 4' tall X 6' wide swath of snow along the side. Plus, the back half of one of the cold frames, that I couldn't see from the house, had collapsed--though I cleaned off most of the snow and pushed it back up the best I could.
...and now the wind has kicked up again, promising more drifting and possibly more digging and brushing. Ugh. My heart hurts already....and my arms.... In a strange way, I hope this is the "big one". I'M COMING, ELIZABETH!

We got mostly ice and wind and COLD. I am no longer enamored with winter.
