It's sitting on my XBOX shelf right now. Unless you are just trying to mentally block it out. :D
No consoles for me, so COD3 doesn't exist.

Got far in what? I passed COD4 if that's what you mean and found it enjoyable. Haven't got a copy of COD5 yet. I'm just commeting based on what I saw in the gameplay videos.
Aah, ok, that explains it then. Yeah, there are plenty of "other" missions in CoD 5; they must've just not shown them or something.

Well I'm nearly done with this game. It's great fun! But what I'm assuming is the last level, taking the Reichstag, is insanely hard. And I'm not even playing on Veteran (on Hardened). It's pure chaos, it's impossible to make any headway, there are tons of enemies, throwing grenades and laying down machine gun fire. It's absurdly hard. I'm replaying this latest checkpoint for over an hour now and can't get to that next checkpoint. Crying in frustration here...

do you mean goin up the steps ? i was stuck there very long, you just have to run up to a certain point and your mates do the rest, i just sprinted up and ran down again, the rest was good old scripting (how lame ;) )

The whole damn Building is like that though. Scripted to all hell and back, and all that matters is finding the magic invisible tripwire that turns off the Nazi factory.
Aggravating as all hell though, simply because there are so many fucking Nazis, and they get to shoot at you the whole time you're looking for the place you need to stand.
The Japanese castle had a bit of that bullshit too, but nowhere near as bad.

I didn't think the final level was all that bad, or at least not as frustrating as the endless respawning and grenade spamming in the Japanese levels. You pretty much just need to do whatever your current objective is and ignore most of the brawling that's going on in the auditorium area.
RavynousHunter on 16/12/2008 at 04:56
Yeah, but killing hordes of Nazis is just oh so fun, though! :cheeky:

No no, I wasn't talking about the building or the steps - haven't gotten there yet. I'm still stuck approaching the Reichstag. I need to destroy three Flak guns, one is down and there are two more closer to the building, but it's a bitch just getting to them. In about a hundred tries I managed to destroy one of them just once before being promptly killed. And the fact that I destroyed it wasn't worthy of a checkpoint so I have to do it all over again and again and again. I guess there will be a checkpoint once I get both of them...
Frustrating to the nth degree, but fun at the same time.

You know, this sort of shit is what PISSED me off about the console-exclusive Treyarch CoD games: (Call of Duty:Finest Hour, Call of Duty 2:Big Red One, and possibly Call of Duty 3 for the orig. XBOX). You couldn't even SAVE in the middle of a long and hellish mission. So, 2 hours of progress is frequently wasted because I had to go to work, bed, give my girlfriend some attention, etc. All because I didn't fully get to the end of a mission. Made me quit playing.

Finest Hour was made by Spark, best known for the recent shitfest Turning Point: Fall of Liberty.
CoD3 for 360 has some horribly placed checkpoints though. They should give you one everytime you complete an objective, but they obviously don't being Treyarch and all.
