I was speaking to Dethy over Steam IM the other week and he put forth the theory that Lost_soul might have genuine Assburger's Syndrome. After L_S' recent "I find socialising to be a waste of time" post in the (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=136398&page=1) misogynist LAN thread, I'm inclined to agree.
Hey now, that can be cool. I've got a friend with it, and she compensates by being really hyper. Quite a bit of fun to hangout with. Just don't expect much in the way empathy should you be having a bad day.

The guy actually told me that they have been considering patching this stuff out of the old games officially and (re)selling an old product at "higher-than-their-worth" prices to nostalgia-prone nerds, gaining MAD profits for effectively minimal work required.
Fixed that for you buddy
lost_soul on 11/8/2011 at 15:36
The funny thing is, if they had done that to begin with, we wouldn't be in this situation now: I wouldn't be calling them and consuming support resources.
I frankly don't understand why some official EA employee with clearance doesn't e-mail me a non-infected exe and be done with it. Also, they should be required to state on the box if the program is encrypted to warn potential buyers.
Kuuso on 11/8/2011 at 15:49
Because you're one customer obsessed with everything being just the way you like it, on a game that's too old for them to care and with no gain in for them. I think they have better things to do than send exe's around.
Not that I disagree on your point - not saying anything about it - but it's bloody obvious why they're not replying to you personally with a "non-infected" (haha) exe.

"Yes, yes of course. Could you hold on a sec, let me establish a remote connection to our Lead Programmer's computer right now... no he won't mind, he's only using three of his four cores right now.. ah there we go, just a few more seconds... I'm sure glad we kept all the design files of all the games from the past several decades in one single place, despite them being developed by vastly different studios you know? Oh there it is, the source code, give me just a few minutes to go through it and cut out all the DRM checks.... would you like me to add a DX11 support as well so it runs on Windows 7 native? No of course not, that, it'll just take a minute... alright, all done, can I put you on hold while the code recompiles?"
