* MGS 4 (though if Microsoft truly has it's way, dunno how long will it remain exclusive...).
It's not happening at this point. 360 (and surprisingly PC) are getting the multiplatform MGS: Rising.

Anyone who loves MGS would have gone and gotten a ps3 or atleast hired one from a video store to play MGS4 by this point either way.
WOW THAT'S A GREAT IDEA WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THAT
oh wait it's 'cuz I didn't have $600 or $300 and there aren't any places where I could rent a PS3 anywhere near me!
Please, think before you post.

Since I should be getting my PS3 in the next 1-2 weeks: any tips on setting the thing up or other tweaks? I've heard that the standard setup tends to lead to washed-out colours and low contrast, for instance.

Hold down the power button until it beeps. The optimal video settings supported by your TV will be auto-detected and applied. This handy when you're regularly switching between multiple TVs (eg one connected via component, another via HDMI).
Also it's faster to download firmware updates on your PC and then install them via USB flash memory (formatted to FAT32) or writeable optical media.

Yeah get the Resistance games they are really really good. All the good from Halo, all the good from Half-life2, and none of what sucks about them. Spot-on gameplay with spot-on presentation. The first can be a bit frustrating, it's pretty tough and checkpoints placement is a bit off, second is much better when it comes to that. What makes these games so good are the weapons, they are all a joy to use, best arsenal since Shogo. Enemies are tough and smart and sometimes kinda big, it's just as fun to fight them as fighting the covenant.

Yeah, I actually borrowed an acquaintance's PS3 to play MGS4 because I was afraid I'd encounter spoilers if I waited too long.
And, a few missteps aside, it was TOTALLY AWESOME and easilly in my top 10 games list.
But yeah, I can't really recommend it if you haven't played MSG one through three - a lot of the pleasure of MGS4 is the way it ties up all the plot threads.

Heh, Cincinnati must be part of the "developing world".

I've actually had a rather odd occurance. My ps3 factory reset itself, and now my two main profies have switched psn accounts, this means I can't use the saves on one profile as they belong to another, I can get around that of course by transferring saves, however, it is a major pain in the ass.
Games purchased through psn are another story with most saying anerror occured and I have to reboot. I can probably get around that by re-downloading the unlocker, but that will use up a download.
I contacted Sony support, they won't touch it because they saw the word account in my statement and want me to pay £'s per minute to phone them. So they can fuck right off!

I have a question...I have a PS1 that needs a controller. Would a Dual Shock 2 work?
