WOW THAT'S A GREAT IDEA WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THAT
oh wait it's 'cuz I didn't have $600 or $300 and there aren't any places where I could rent a PS3 anywhere near me!
Please, think before you post.
There there, the exact same thing happened back when Snatcher came out on the mega cd for alot of people and they managed (and that required a mega drive PLUS the sega cd addon for fucks sake). In either case ps3`s are ALOT more plentiful these days than they were say a year ago, specially after the release of the ps3 slim. And unlike the mega cd theres a fair few good games worthy of getting the system for than just the one game. I wont even go into Halo for xbox :p.

I have a question...I have a PS1 that needs a controller. Would a Dual Shock 2 work?
It will work you won't have the sensitivity on the buttons ofcourse, but it should work on most games. PS2 Dual Shocks should be pretty cheap to buy on ebay or something.
Likewise PS1 controllers work on PS2, again though you won't have the full analogue button control.

I had become a little bored with what I had available to me on the 360, so I picked up one of those new slim PS3's (because I love to spend money) and Killzone 2. I tried the singleplayer, actually, I watched my friend try the singleplayer and I was pretty meh with it. Later on I played it myself and was still rather meh with it. So late at night I was bored and decided to jump online. And man, it's a very different experience. I've been told that it has been patched recently which fixed a lot of things that may or may not have been broken before (I don't know I wasn't playing it then) but whatever it is that they have now is rather stellar. My only complaint is that everyone seems to play the same class of character. It could just be that I'm low level and thus I am grouped with other newbies that have no unlocks. But even with that, the multiplayer aspect feels very large and active, consistantly engaging and unbelievably beautiful. The Warzone game mode where the objective changes every round to something different (assassination, defend location, capture item, etc) makes it really fresh and the time just flew by and before I knew it it was rather late and I had to shut it off. So, I'm rather happy with it! Unfortunately, MW2 is around the corner so my stay with Killzone 2 MP will only last a month or two, I wish I had tried it earlier, but then again, I heard earlier, before the patch, it had some serious issues. Anyway, it's pretty stellar now, definitely an excellent multiplayer game. Definitely worth playing at least until MW2 comes out. And if you're not a fan of MW2, well, there you go.
So yeah, Killzone 2 MP is leaps and bounds above the SP campaign which is rather horridly bland. The levels are huge, the set pieces are beautiful, the graphics are unreal, and the gameplay is pretty rock solid to boot. Couple that with the 32 player warzone game mode and I think I've lost my weekends and weeknights for a few months now.
I know I'm a veritable hype machine, but this game gets thimbs up.
not a typo

I'm not seeing what this has to do with my problem, i.e. I have no money to buy a PS3 and there are no rental places near me.

Yeah, but that's not our problem is it? Just look at your first reply to iceman. It may be the truth but meh, its also true that many people can't afford all sorts of stuff.

I can't stand the button sensitivity sometimes. I intentionally play racing games with a PS1 controller so I don't have to press the button so damn hard just to drive at full speed.
And conversely, I use my Logitech Dual Action controller (designed for PS2) on my PSOne and it works wonderfully.

killzone2 gets better as you level up, great multiplayer, sp yeah nothing special, looks great though

Man, this thread is convincing me that the time to buy a PS3 is night (and by nigh, I probably mean "this summer).

Once the ps3slim is down in price to around the £150 mark ala Xbox360Pro that I picked up I'll probably look into it seriously.
It is a sexy beast though.

Yea it canbe a pain in racing games. But just think back to peaking over boxes in MSG2 with the analogue shoulder buttons. The xbox version couldn't do it properly.
