*googles* No actually, I didn't even know it was available on PS3. I've avoided it since I had written it off as a massive bloatware torrent client. I might give it a 2nd look now, thanks.
It is a piece of bloatware but it serves media to the PS3 and does that conversion thing. Of course you don't need it - Media Player works just as well, but there have been a few things the PS3 didn't like that I've successfully converted. Takes an age mind.

Last gem on pc was imho STALKER, after that all quiet on the western front.
Good lord, you're a retard if you really think that.

What is now striking me is the fact that my Bravia TV can also connect to the network and play media from my PC. In fact the interface is practically identical to that on the PS3. It makes the PS3's media serving function redundant. That is until I work out how to copy stuff onto the PS3's HD. Even then, the Bravia TV seems a little faster and I've yet to compare the picture from the PS3 to the TV as opposed to the TV running on its own.

Ooo, that's a new feature in Bravias then. My 40" I bought around xmas last year has no such feature :(

Doesn't seem to recognise a portable HD connected by USB though the manual says it will play video from "Compatible USB devices".
And there is no wifi - it needs a wired connection to the router. On the plus side when doing this it needs no network key magubbins, it just connects and is happy. The media from the PC is linked wirelessly to the router which sends it to the TV.

For me it was pretty much Criterion that made me go for a US PS3 - for a film geek with wannabe-academic leanings (which pretty much fits me to a T) they're simply too good to refuse. I'm thinking, though, that at some point in the future when prices come down (i.e. in a year or two) I might replace my DVD player with a Bluray player that does Region B. Until then I am okay with Region A disks.
Speaking of which, why is there no Criterion outside of USA/Canada? I'm taking a European Cinema here in London and the last two films we've watched have been horrible shit versions with only 40% of the dialog subtitled because they don't have the Criterion releases.

I only tried the multiplayer portion of Killzone 2, but I actually liked it a great deal. If you're still trying to learn to use controllers for FPS games, though, you should probably start elsewhere. The controls of Killzone 2 are ass but they're intentionally ass, it really gets across the feeling of weight and makes the combat feel fresh.
Give controllers a chance. I prefer them to mouse control for shooters, although it took a hell of a long time getting used to.
Edit: Well, looks like we're not talking about games anymore...

If it's anything like the PS3 or PSP, then removable memory will have to be formatted with FAT32.

http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/615/eheuyeh.jpgLook, I'm really not a console hater, I don't have some kind of a principle-based bone to pick with the type of platform. In fact, I kind of want a second hand PS3. But the first and foremost HURR DURR I've got with consoles is the promoted control scheme.
