One day you just simply realize that all your music is stolen. Huh, when did that happen? And apparently you can buy individual songs/tracks online now, so you can't use The First Rule Of Albums as an excuse anymore.
So how do you buy music online? What are the available platforms and why do they all suck so terribly?

I use iTunes and I don't think it sucks that much, except that it's not one of the cheapest stores, and that the program iTunes kind of blows. But I only use the actual iTunes program to buy the music, after that I just play the songs in Winamp. I'm glad the songs are DRM free now. But it must be noted that not all phones and MP3 players can play the file format that iTunes uses, so beware.
But since I've subscribed to Spotify I buy less music than I used to on iTunes.

Last time I bought an mp3 it was off of Amazon. It was an unprotected mp3. It's main problem was that you better download it right away after you buy it - there's a time limit to your download and it's not something where you can redownload it any time you want.
Not a big deal, as long as you know about it. I didn't know that there was a time limit though, and had a large preload going so I figured I'd just wait. Support did eventually reset the time limit for me though.

I still have a craving for physical media (only happens for music tho) so I either get music on vinyl, plus those often come with small coupons to download the album, or I order the CDs online.
For the rest, I still pirate until I can buy it physically.
I would question your need to actually buy dematerialized music. If you want to give money to your favourite artists, buy a concert ticket or merchandise.

I get pretty much all my music through Spotify(5 euros/month). When I find an album I really like I'll order the CD through play.com or such. Occasionally, when I just want 1 or 2 songs from an album I'll buy em through iTunes.

Can't you buy music through Spotify?
I've just been wondering what to do with the whole music thing. We'll get Google Music eventually so I'm kind of reluctant to invest in something else at the moment.
