I went back and listened again to Karras' claim* about the mechanical eye. After hearing it again I would say you're right. However, I think Garrett's disdain of religion would have made him apathetic of Karras' identity until things got personal.

why is this thread still being carried on? don't answer - everything after TBM's itemised post has been pointless except for some of teh remarks about people’s general need to play the games (good advice in any situation/argument). TBM was completely correct - there is no need for interpretation, I am making this statement as the unofficial keeper of canon.

We should just agree the whole story of The Metal Age was generally a bit confusing. It was full of gaping plot and logic holes beyond why Karras wanted to kill Garrett.

I think the far more interesting story, the real one with the twists and the drama and suspense, was the story of how the T2 plot was written, or...

... almost wasn't at all.
