Hi,
I am currently replaying all Thief games (T2X) included and am on my last game, TDS. I am using John P.'s excellent textures and made a couple of .ini adjustments, but I am still looking for a way to get rid of the feature that lets guards stop to catch some air after running for a couple of seconds. I couldn't find a fix here on the forums. Did I miss anything?
Btw, I loved T2X, which I played for the first time. Also, it is amazing to see how good TDS still looks (with the John P. textures, of course).

AFAIK there is a way to alter it in the Gamesys. New Horizon used/planned it for the T3EnhancEd but the last time I tried to make these tweaks myself I didn't come so far. :erg:

I wonder if such thing is possible in T2. Having a bunch of fat guards in a FM that get tired around the second corner when chasing Garrett would be hilarious :D

Hi let me first say that I agree with you that TDS is really a great game. I still go on replaying it and time after time I refined some things to make it better for me. The stamina you are talking about is indeed disappointing because it makes the gave very easy some times. To overcome this problem I used the following tweak:
“Change the options.ini file in your My Documents/Thief3 personal settings folder. Set your movement keys like so, supposing they're ASWD:
W=MoveForwardBackward 0.500000
S=MoveForwardBackward -0.500000
and the same for the strafing keys if you want
Now, in the Thief3 directory, edit the file: System/default.ini (you probably should make a backup first)
In the section "[T3Settings]" change the following:
WalkMultiplier=1.0
You now have a default movement speed of walking, and when you hold down the WALK key, you run (haven't figured out how to toggle it yet). The animations look right, footsteps sound right, and AI respond right, so I'm guessing this is all there is to it.”
But the trick is to set the WalkMultiplier to a lower value like 0.91 or something similar! :sly:The result is very good and realistic because your default movement is walking, like a thief should do, and when you start to run first you loose some time just to press the button and than when your run your speed will be lower and if you do not pay attention the taffers will hit you:thumb:. Moreover if you use the Increased Difficulty tweak by Sneaksie Dave you can make the damage of your opponents much worse for you and also improve the guards' visual acuity and hearing attitude.
You can set the WalkMultiplier even to a lower value like 0.85 or 0.8 and everybody will surely catch you. Just try it depends on how difficult you want the game to be. And of course you will become a easy target for all the guards with the bow:)

And you can even set the guards' animation multiplier to 1.5 and watch them run in fast motion, but that's not the point of it. There is a way to limit this fatigue thing, I just haven't found it yet.

If I recall correct, there was a modification exe, done by someone, to take away this problem. It made also the food edible, and took away the loot glint.
Unfortunately, I don't remember the name of this application.

Do you know where I can find the "guards' animation multiplier" you are talking about?

It most probably would be.
