So,... what's the situation on the Dark engine source code? - by Cliftor

Alright, I'll admit I've been a smidgen too hopeful for OPDE, and that there's the likelihood, what with the reassurance from Randy and some other former LG guys, that the dark engine source code will be found...
But I've seen more proof that OPDE will be completed someday rather than a company from Canada finding source code for a game engine developed in California.
But prove me wrong...

The company in Canada isn't going to find it. They've put the bug in people's ears, contacted people we haven't thought of, and contacted the offices that would be the best bet for having any chance. They're doing what we are, but with a current list of who's who we don't have.

Personally, and with all due respect to Rene, I don't believe Eidos is lifting a single finger to hunt down the source code. Rene may have asked some people, but beyond that I don't think he'll get any further than we have.
They don't care. If they cared, they would have looked for it years ago...or we would have heard an official statement from Eidos saying, 'we don't know where it is, sorry'. If the source does magically show up someday, I highly doubt that it will be because Eidos did any searching, it will be some random dev finding it and giving it to Eidos to release back to us.

Like I said. They made contacts. Warren was one of them. There is no physical searching going on.

Okeydoke, so it's all down to just waiting... And seeing if anyone can think of whether they have the source code or not. Still, this is gonna be a while, regardless. OPDE will be nearly ready by then.

AFAIK, LGS was in Massachusetts all the time.

Yeah, in Cambridge, MA. In a rented office space in an office complex. They moved there from Lexington, MA, but they were not Looking Glass Studios at that time.

OK, I knew I was off a few states... But still.

Is this really how this ends?
