So You've Got Climbing Gloves. Now what? - by t93308

They're as expensive as heck to buy and you don't use them very much throughout the game. I know there was a thread where players posted pics of areas that they climbed where they really weren't supposed to go.
I'm more interested in where you are supposed to use the gloves in the game.
These are where I know I really had to use the gloves:
The Docks - there's the apartment above where you first start out (where the guy leaves a note about seeing a submarine-thingy) that has some loot.
Auldale - If you walk away in the opposite direction from the window where you "met" the Inspector (and triggered the cut-scene) and took the first right (not an immediate right which takes you into Pagan territory but further down) you'd run into a wall/building. On top of this low building is an arrow, either gas or water...not sure. While up on this roof if you walk to the edge (moving away from the Inspector window) you can look down on those two idiots talking at the entrance of Auldale. You will see on the roof of the archway over the entrance to Auldale is another arrow. When you get back down to that area, you'll have to climb up to get it.
The Widow's Mansion - There are three ways to get in: The front door, the secret passage on the front of the mansion (on the roof above the front door) and the 2nd floor balcony of the guest bedroom that has the stairway going up to where you find the widow. You have to have climbing gloves for two of the three entrances.
The "Thief's Highway" - Big deal. I used it on my second time through the game. On my first time through, I ghosted on the ground and it was faster to get to the same place.
The Stonemarket Plaza - There's a gas vent with a gas arrow in it that renews each day. But you don't have to climb to get it. A good jump can get the arrow, too.
The Clock Tower Mission - You have to climb the wall up to the pipe to enter the mission.
The Graveyard - There are two goblets up on a barrel on the third floor balcony of Ft. Ironwood. You can climb a wall to get on some arches that will get Garrett up there. It's not easy but can be done.
Are there any other places to climb in the game that will achieve something (loot, entrance to a mission, etc)?

Minor loot:
Facing the main entrance of Fort Ironwood the wall directly to it's right can be climbed. At the top is a gargoyle statue whose eyes are gems
The Museum has plenty of legit opportunities for climbing to loot, or to new rooms, though none are essential IIRC.
Can't stand the SpiderGloves, personally.
The apartment you speak of in the docks, with the note about the Cetus Amicus
does not require the climbing gloves. In fact, I wasn't even aware it was possible to get there with the gloves. I executed the tricky
mantling up to the balcony
to get there.

I forgot one use of the gloves:
In the Museum Mission, there is a painting on a balcony above the lower set of stairs leading into the gated Eye area. The only way to access the loot is by using the climbing gloves to get up there.
The museum provided loads of climbing fun.
I used it to get from the curator's office to the main atrium, to get that painting, and to climb around the little garden place.

Was that the very small T-section of roof top in T3, where someone had the nerve to have Garrett actually say "Thief's Highway"? (Because I couldn't tell if they were really serious or only
seriously teasing us, with their tolken "highway" example?)
Heck, if they had gotten their "Climbing Gloves" to work, consistantly, around simple corners then that alone might have given us a much truer T3 Thief's Highway without Ion Storm efforting over roof tops, so much? :thumb:

From the courtyard at Ironwood, you can:
1: Climb up above the small staircase and get the jewels from the gargoyle.
2: Climb the wall near the main gate to the street and get on the rooftops to Ramis apartment or cruise to the portal.
Inside Ironwood
1: Climb up through a trapdoor to get some loot and a firearrow.
2: Climb the outside wall to sneak onto the Mezzanine over the front door to sneak in behind the guards.
In Auldale:
1: Climb the wall near the crates to the rooftops for some arrows. This lets you jump to the opposite roofs and walk the ledges.
2: Climb out of the Museum tunnel.
3: Climb up to the sleeping Pagan.
In Killing Time:
1: Get into the tower.
2: Get the Diamond gear.
3: Get the loot in the central shaft area.
4: Return to the upper levels if you need to.
At Morias:
1: Climb the outside wall(s) to avoid guards.
2: Climb to two entries other than the front door.
On the docks:
1: Climb to the platform above alley at the pawnshop and hide, or get the arrow.
2: Climb to the room with the "Cetis" information.
3: Climb to the arrows above the entrance to the Hidden Citadel.
There are a few others, but you get the idea.

I never found the cetis note, I gotta check that out. There is also a
rooftop hide out to get to in old quarter. its near sewer hole where you get the extortion money of your landlord. There is also a spot near the guard station where you can climb way up on a roof, and then not get down. Someone should document these climbing areas as even the strategy guide does not give them away.
