I bought the SoldOut double pack with both thief 1 & 2. I was just wondering are these patched to the latest version (1.33 and 1.18?) when you install them? Cant see the version number anywhere, and trying to run the patch says it cant locate the game directory.

I don't know but to find the version number...
Thief(directory folder)/Thief.exe(right click)/Properties/Version/Product Version
Same steps for Thief 2.

Err, Sold-Out Version comes pre-patched to 1.33 for T1 and 1.18 for T2 (and the installer has a few enhancements versus the original), and I have never had any problems running fan mades. Just use darkloader as normal.

My Sold Out T1 did not come with a patch because it was the standalone version, I had to download the patch myself.
When I emailed Sold Out about it they said that the patch was not included on their stand alone T1, but would be included when T1 was released on a double pack with T2.

That would explain because i have the dvd double pack version. As for darkthiefs original comment, he states he has the double pack, which i assumed was the same as my version (ie dvd).
Therefore that Bittorrent comment is totally out of place. I read the original post by Darkthief and therefore based it on my own soldout thief experiences, ie i have never had any problems with darkloader.
Although that could be down to the fact that darkloader was installed with my original thief cds. But then again i reinstalled so possibly not. I dont know.

Question about Thief 2 Sold Out (the stand-alone version)--it has this horrible Shockwave-based installation menu that gave me some trouble installing on XP. IS there anyway around this? Does the original Looking Glass version have this? And is the original 2 CDs?

This answers the question I had when reading this thread. I was wondering if the original problem had been fixed. I remember when people first began to post about the SoldOut release. At first there was excitement that there were more options to purchase
Thief. Then it consistently turned to disappointment as the problems began. The problems seemed specific to the SoldOut release. I think it's pretty cool that they've worked on a solution.
But this doesn't solve the current problems.:erg:
