Question about Thief 2 Sold Out (the stand-alone version)--it has this horrible Shockwave-based installation menu that gave me some trouble installing on XP. IS there anyway around this? Does the original Looking Glass version have this? And is the original 2 CDs?
Mine is, but then I have the Sold Out version too. The flash-menu is something Sold Out added, but you can get around it by opening the CD-ROM without autoplaying it (right click on the drive letter and hit open). Look for setup.exe and run it. What's your problem with the default installation menu by the way? Is your PC that slow, or do you not have shockwave/flash installed?

I have the 'original' Sold Out Thief 2 and it didn't come with a patch. A friend bought it a year or two later and by then the patch was included on one of the CDs, but not installed . You MUST use the Sold Out patch and not the general one if your game isn't v1.18.
I've had few problems with fan missions, Calendra's Legacy being the notable exception. Does the the file linked-to by van HellSing fix this. Please make my day and say yes...

Personally, I needed those files for bukary's Old Comrades, Old Debts, where a complex explosion wouldn't get triggered properly. The explosion was done with standard scripts bundled with the game that for some reason were missing from the SoldOut version.

Never had any trouble with the premium patch.
It's exactly the same as the lglass one if you ask me, except for the installation (that goes a lot faster).
It can be download from this page: (

There's also a list of all the fixes and improvements.

I should perhaps point out that this was several years ago on a different PC with a different OS,
although I doubt they make any difference. It's the same game disks and patch.
I downloaded the normal patch and couldn't get it to install. The Sold Out one worked and was notably
bigger at 44MB as opposed to, from memory, roughly 35MB.
With Calendra's Legacy, on the second mission certain objectives wouldn't tick off. I looked on the internet but,
although some others had a similar problem, I couldn't find a solution. Until now.
I've tried the new script files and everything seems to be working. The 'Grab your stash from the rented room' objective
now works. I might try again with the old scripts to see if perhaps I was missing some third-party scripts.
The game's readme says "Special thanks to...Gaylesaver for introducing me to custom .osm scripts. Without his efforts certain things would have been impossible" which makes me wonder...
Anyway, thanks van Helsing as I've finally been able to finish Calendra's Legacy, and to Purah and co for creating such an ambitious FM.

I have also SoldOut version of T1, I installed the 1.33 patch and run the game through 1.33 fixed exe
when I try to start a mission, it crash with this - The instruction at "xxxxxxxxxx" referenced memory at "xxxxxxxxxx". The memory could not be "read". - I don't really know what to do with it
