Sorry, I searched really well but I didn't found here a solution to the problem witch open an error message :
"The program you are trying to run requires a current Indeo codec.
To obtain a current driver that is compatible with this version of Windows, please contact the manufacturer at (
http://indeo.ligos.com).
To run the program, click Continue. For more information, click Details."
I've had this problem for TWO BIG YEARS, and I just found a solution, so I thought it would be nice to give it to other players in this case.
(
http://www.free-codecs.com/Indeo_Codec_download.htm) Here is a link to the Saint codec ^^
Sorry again if it was told before...

That codec is installed when you install Thief 1 or 2, I'm not sure why you would be having that issue.

It happens to a lot of people who use XP. Every time you reinsert the TDP or T2 disc you have to reinstall the codec. Someone explains it on a site somewhere that I am too tired right now to link. I simply copied the codec installer off the disc and put it on my desktop so that I don't have to explore the CD every time I put the Thief CDs in my drive.

No, that's the problem. In my case that doesn't works even if I run the iv5setup.exe in the Thief 2 CD. But with the file I linked, yup. And I don't have to run it anymore!
And I read many posts in this forum by members who have the same problem...

It's explained right in the giant FAQ at the top. The indeo codec conflicts with Windows Media Player, causing the codec to become corrupt.
Each time I re-insert the Thief CDs, I simply type
regsvr32 "c:\Program Files\Thief2\LGVID.AX
Into Run (I can just select it from the drop down box in Run, so I don't always have to type it out). A second later a message box pops up telling me it worked and voila, my Thief videos work just fine.

But listen!
Me I don't NEED to do ANYTHING with the codec I gave you! Isn't it better?

You actually insert the CD to play?
LOL N00B.

Or you can set GarrettLoader up to re-register the codec whenever you launch T1/G/2 from it (including all FMs).

Your comment truely added to this conversation Zylon, as usual. Anywho yes, I still insert the CD for Thief 2. Thief Gold and Deadly Shadows no, but I never bothered to go through the No-CD Process for the Metal Age.
And potterr, how would you do that exactly? It'd be great to know, since I use GL.
potterr on 30/5/2006 at 17:41
T-Smith,
1) Start GL up and click the TOOLS button (hammer) and next to the monitor icon in teh new window is a drop down list.
2) Select RUN WHEN ANY DARK ENGINE GAME STARTS from the dropdown.
3) Click close.
