If people don't like commchat, stay out of it, simple as that. Some people do like commchat, I don't mind it. I don't post enough in there, I stay out of a lot of it. If people choose to let it bother them, thats their problem. There have been some good discussions, and bad ones too. Same as in here. This isn't about commchat anyway.

I could be very wrong about this, but it seems to me (just from observances over the past couple of years) that there exists an automatic "guardedness" when someone who generally posts in CommChat comes in and posts on the Thief forums--as if just waiting for that person to cause trouble.

Anyone else notice this, or am I just a window-licker?

Depends on the person I think, fett posts in Comm Chat and in here sometimes. I enjoy reading his posts, there are more people, R Soul, ahhh who else. I post in Comm Chat and in here. I post where I want to. Thats the way it should be. I've also learned not to take any of that seriously. You can't stop people from being assholes, they'll do what they want where they want, regardless of the forum.

Which just goes to show how everybody here is an individual.

If this was a narrow focused set of forums (in a general sense) I wouldn't hang around to read the interesting (thiefgen), the useful and informative (editors) or the amusing (Commchat). I like this place just because of the varied mix of people that pass through and that's something that should be applauded.

Besides, I'm not forced to engage with anybody else in Commchat (or here) but I won't be put off by a few individuals if that's exactly what I wanted to do.

Really, this discussion should be merged with the 'here lies TTLG' thread

Hahahaha! That's because those who've been flamed a lot are either avoiding the place or ignoring the flamers or bringing the tone down to where it's still bitchy but not cooking anyone. You know, adaptation.

There are several CommChat regulars that really participate in Thief topics, enjoyably, and at least productively. And there are those who do come in, don't mesh, and act their same selves that drove many taffers away.

Also, a lot of people are being accused of bitterly holding onto the past, when something else is happening instead, so that always grinds things to a halt and perpetuates myths and shallowness.
