First things first, here are my specs
windows xp pro service pack 2
pentium 4 3.2 ghz
Intel Desktop Board D865PERL
NVidia GeForce FX 5900 XT
512 dual channel ddr ram
soundblaster audigy2 zs platinum
Pioneer dvd-r/rw
I installed thief 1 using the "f:\setup.exe -lgntforce", run command. It installed fine, and the splash screen comes up. I choose new game, and go into the shop screen, and when I continue from there, I get nothing, just a black screen. I tried running the win 98 compatibility mode, but still nothing. I even checked the cd for scratches, but there are none. Any help for this?

Tried v1.33, which is the same version I have, and still get the black screen.
Then I tried the v1.14, and it asks for the cd, even though its in there.

try the thief 2 solution ("safe_texture_manager")... i remember that working for me in thief gold.

Maybe I'm blind, but I didn't see the fix for thief 2....I'm kind of tired, that could be it.

unless im mistaken the user.cfg in thief is blank.... i dunno i think mine was, maybe try typing in safe_texture_manager though i doubt it will work...

I have the same problem of dasa01902 but anybody of the solutions that you have suggested they work in my case. Besides the same thing happens if I try to play a FM of TDP with ThiefGold in GarrettLoader, while the FMs of Thief Gold are working correctly.
My system is this:
P4 2.66 Ghz ,
2x512Mb Kingstone PC2100 DDR RAM,
MB ASUS P4P800S,
GeForce FX7800,
WinXP pro SP2.

I'm not sure if my problem is the same as yours but I've done all there is to do with solutions and whnever I start a Thief:TDP mission, microsoft thing says "thief has encountered a problem and needs to close" or w/e....is that what yours does?
